Reviews Summary

Aria Ristorante Villasimius offers a vibrant atmosphere and dishes made with exceptionally fresh, local ingredients, particularly praised for its mixed seafood grill and pizzas. While many customers rave about the high quality of food and attentive service, some have experienced long wait times and a feeling of being rushed or not fully welcomed, especially concerning service during peak hours. The restaurant offers a dual experience with a casual downstairs area and a more formal upstairs dining space, providing options for different dining preferences.

"One of the best restaurants we visited in Sardinia. The food was incredible. Very fresh local ingredients. We were recommended a fantastic Sardinian wine.

Great atmosphere and background music.

The service was on point all evening. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Matteo."

Andy Campbell

"We were genuinely impressed by the food – fresh, well-balanced flavours and some creative dishes. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by long wait times and inattentive service. Drinks took forever to arrive, and getting a server’s attention was a challenge throughout. If the staff matched the quality of the kitchen, this place could be excellent. As it stands, it’s hard to justify a return."

James Creed

"The atmosphere is lively, though the music leans heavily on loud dance/techno, which may not suit everyone especially for dining.
The ground level is a pizza/ burger joint with cocktails/ bar set up with outdoor seating.
Upstairs is restaurant style dining with seating on the terrace.

I found the setup a bit unusual, with the table positioned right in the middle of the walkway next to the lobster tank, we requested a move was reseated next to the wall. On the food side, the complimentary bread (pizza dough) was very good, but the panini felt underwhelming.

Starters:
• Pacchero al gambero rosso con tartare di gambero crudo e la sua riduzione (€22):
Nicely presented, but the prawn would have benefitted from being brought to room temperature before serving. Otherwise, a solid dish.
• Tagliolino al nero di seppia con ragù di calamaro, pesto al basilico e bottarga in scaglie (€22):
The bottarga resembled orange peel at first glance. Overall, the dish was fine, but the ratio of calamari to pasta was low, leaving it a little underwhelming.

After a noticeable pause between courses, the main platter 40minutes after the first course was served. It was excellent: grilled tuna, amberjack, squid, octopus tentacles, two large red prawns & langoustines, and long-clawed crustaceans. The langoustines and claws offered little meat, but the rest was well cooked and very enjoyable.

Other notes:
• Service was adequate, if not particularly warm.
• Wine list is reasonably priced.

Overall: Some dishes shine, others fall short, but the mixed seafood grill is worth trying."
