Reviews Summary

La Taverna di Via Stella is consistently praised for its authentic Veronese cuisine and warm, elegant atmosphere. Diners rave about the quality of the traditional dishes, the excellent wine selection, and the attentive, professional service that makes them feel at home. While most reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some minor comments suggest that the ambiance might feel a bit 'cold' to a few, though this is not a widespread concern.

"A sweet gem in a sea of touristy. The food is very good and classic Veronese style. The prices were about average for the area and we always expect to pay a little more in the tourist quarter. The staff were friendly and made a great wine recommendation. We didn’t have reservations and came right at opening to snag a table but other people weren’t so lucky as the night went on so if you can get a reservation ahead of time it’s recommended!

We ordered the gnocchi with horse meat ragu, risotto all’amarone and tripe polenta - all were incredible."

"This place is amazing! Everything from when you come in has such a nice and elegant touch. The music and ambiente are just perfect for a nice evening with good food to slowly enjoy. The stuff was very kind and considerate and so generous. They knew their job well, everything is professional."

K. P

"Great place for a meal! The appetizer was amazing! They explained what cheeses to eat in what specific order, the lady preparing the cheeses even gave us fun facts and information about the different types of cheese and how to eat them! The main meals were delicious and quite a lot of food. We also had a tiramisu for dessert and it was so tasty! 10/10 would recommend!"

Where to eat Amarone Risotto in Verona: The 9 best restaurants chosen by Gambero Rosso

A lively and authentic atmosphere is felt in this beautiful "tavern" a stone's throw from Juliet's house. At the entrance, there is the bar counter, where you can stop for a glass chosen from various proposals in a wine list compiled with intelligence and a special eye for this vocative territory. The menu focuses on the purest tradition: saor sardines to start, then gnocchi with pastissada de caval, bigoli with knife-cut duck ragu, Amarone risotto, cod with polenta, Veronese rabbit, and, to finish, good homemade desserts.

Polenta is, for the most part, a side dish, but it doesn't mean it can't be the star of the show in Italy. Nowadays, many restaurants and cafes serve it as a meal, and at La Taverna, it is both a side dish and the main meal. And it doesn't matter which way they serve it.
