Review written out of a vegans perspective: The restaurant looks beautiful, traditional and especially attracts omnis with little breads with all kinds of spreads and hams they have in their bar. I found one vegan option: pasta with vegetable ragu, dried tomatoes and a kind of pesto. It is normally with a whole wheat pasta but I asked for gluten free pasta and had it with gluten free spaghetti instead.

Around town, we also enjoyed some great food, such as the uniquely delicious "torta russa" cake at Pasticcerria Barria and small plates at the historic Osteria Monte Baldo. Overall, I was really happy for the chance to spend a few days in Verona. The main pedestrian areas were very busy in March, and I'd hate to see how crowded things become in the height of the summer tourist season.

Oltre alle tartine si può provare l’arancino, preparato con amarone della Valpolicella e formaggio Monteveronese fondente. Sulla lavagna ci sono oltre 25 etichette di vino alla mescita e più di 300 nella carta dei vini.

Just a few meters down the same street, you’ll no doubt see another small crowd spilling from Caffe Monte Baldo. At over 100 years old this bar-restaurant retains it’s traditional char, with old wine barrels doubling up as tables outside. And what began as a pre-dinner drink, became drinks, as we worked our way through a chalkboard of local wines.

When you walk into Osteria Caffè Monte Baldo, you’re greeted by a warm and friendly atmosphere of soft lighting, dark wood furniture, and elegant seating. The bar has been around before 1910 and is hailed for serving high-quality wines and traditional dishes from Verona. The restaurant is popular with both locals and tourists.

Once being an old-fashioned place, this café has become a busy and crowded place welcoming its guests from the afternoon till the late evening. A large number of locals love to come there to eat dishes of the local cuisine and drink a glass of the first-rate wine. Address: via Rosa, 12.

Usually when I travel to a new city I like to try as many new restaurants as possible (especially somewhere as well known for its food as Italy), so the fact that I came back to Osteria Caffè Monte Baldo three times during my recent trip says a lot about this place.
