In preparation for a shopping jaunt, start with a caffeine jolt at Caffè Borsari (Corso Porta Borsari, 15D; 39-045-803-1313), formerly the Tubino. Behind an unassuming facade, matrons gossip at the marble bar with a stand-up espresso, or at one of the handful of tables for a tête-à-tête over a china pot of tea. The shop also sells blends from La Via del Tè, a well-known Florentine producer, and hearty jams that make great gifts to take home.

This bustling café-bar is famed for its excellent creamy coffee and freshly made brioche—pre-COVID, it was cheek-by-jowl al banco (at the counter/bar), but for now the Veronese patrons must spill outside. The narrow space on the charming Corso Borsari cobbles is packed with coffee- and tea-making pots and cups, as are its walls with colorful gifts and oddities according to the time of year.

Decked out in colorful teapots and speckled counter-tops, this coffee shop has a 60-year history that you’ll feel immediately. Table space is limited, but that shouldn’t stop you from trying their incredible, dense hot chocolates, frothy cappuccinos, and perfect, airy brioches. A favorite of locals and visitors alike, and for good reason.

An excellent coffee roasted in-house and available in a good range of proposals (including Kilimanjaro or Costa Rica, 100% Arabica, or Oro Blend and Supremo, both 75% Arabica and 25% Robusta). Even cappuccinos and other milk versions are up to par, along with a long list of delicious coffees (hazelnut, vanilla, orange and chocolate, Irish cream, amaretto, cherry almond and chocolate) and various drinks. A limited sweet offer to accompany.

This little café has been a fixture on Corso Porta Borsari since 1969, and it truly feels like stepping back in time. The space is tiny: a long polished counter, a few marble-top tables and vintage cups and teapots packed into every nook. They roast their own coffee in-house and offer beans from around the world, plus classic espresso variations like the marocchino and viennese—all served by staff who seem to know everyone by name.

Known for its delicious pastries and exquisite espressos, Caffè Borsari is a must-visit for all coffee enthusiasts. What I loved the most was their delightful outdoor seating arrangement, ideal for people-watching while sipping a velvety cappuccino.

Start at the Porta Borsari (5), a Roman contruction that was once the main gate to the city, and walk down Corso Porta Borsari, pausing for an aromatic coffee at 15d, Caffè Borsari (6) (00 39 045 803 1313). Pass the Gardello Tower (7), a former prison and watch tower, and stop for one of the delicious ice creams at Pretto (8) at Piazza dell’Erbe 40 (open 11am to midnight).

Caffe Borsari is a small but popular spot in Verona that sells some of the best specialty coffee in the city. Their shop is small and cozy, with dim lights and teapots decorating the space that give it a calm and relaxing ambience. They are open from early in the morning to later at night so feel free to stop by and have a coffee anytime.

We never loved the traditional Italian coffee though we tried hard to like it somehow. But I guess it didn’t work the way we wanted it too. Later we found Caffe Borsari it was such an eye catching cosy place where we were attracted immediately like magnets it pulled us.
