La Bitta Venezia is celebrated for its unique meat-focused Venetian cuisine, cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service. Diners rave about dishes like the gnocchi and the legendary panna cotta, while also praising the attentive staff. Some visitors note potential issues with portion sizes or outdoor seating discomfort due to insects, but the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive.

"Great food, very friendly service, and easy gluten free options. Wine by the glass is actually just pay for what you drink from a fresh bottle. Not my first visit and it won’t be my last."

Rob Pasztor

"Went here twice over a few days in Venice. Such great food. The pumpkin ravioli was amazing 🤩. Menu changes so nice to have new choices along the way. Desserts were worthwhile and super tasty. And Debra was lovely to speak to and provide the best service imaginable."

Alvin Valdez

"My husband and I enjoyed our evening in this cozy restaurant. My husband had the liver and I the gnocchi, both were delicious. The service was great as well. You must make a reservation or risk the restaurant not having room for you."

Restaurants in Venice

For a break from all the fish and seafood options in Venice, this is your place; the meat- and veggie-focused menu (inspired by the cuisine of the Venetian mainland) presents a new temptation at every course, and market availability keeps the dishes changing almost every day. The homemade desserts are all luscious (it's been said that La Bitta serves the best panna cotta in town), and you can trust the owner's selections from her excellent wine and grappa lists, which tend to favor small local producers.

The 36 best restaurants in Venice

Head for this trattoria which swims against the Venetian tide in offering only meat and vegetable dishes in the regional tradition. These might include potato gnocchi with pumpkin and smoked ricotta (a good vegetarian option), or pork fillet roasted with plums. They have an excellent cheese board, and in winter and early spring do great things with a vegetable that reaches its apotheosis in this part of the world, radicchio di Treviso.

It’s also where the fabulous meat only restaurant La Bitta (Calle Lunga de San Barnaba, 2753/a, 30123 Venezia) is. Only opened in the evenings and closed on Sundays, this place will also be on my hit list for next time. Venice also has a great number of art galleries and churches across the city which offer you a different experience found in the more tourist areas like San Marco.

Another is La Bitta, a nice walk across the Academia Bridge from San Marco. Distinctive in that the menu is mostly meat v the fish served in most Venetian restaurants. Crowded usually so reserve (only by phone).
