Cappuccio Pesce Fresco is celebrated for its incredibly fresh and flavorful seafood, served street-food style in a lively market setting. Diners rave about the unique dishes and the friendly, accommodating staff who enhance the experience. While some find the portions small for the price and the paper plates a bit casual, the overall consensus is that the quality of the produce and the zesty flavors make it a must-visit spot in Ortigia.
"A must go to lunch spot in Ortigia. We love the surprise of an unassuming market stall with the freshest seafood and flavors so zesty you feel one with Sicily. Excellent service, delicious food, and great value. The restaurant is proud of their quality of produce as they absolutely should. The bruschetta is a standout."

"Happy place for raw fish and bottarga lovers. Stylish market restaurant, run by the family who owns the seafood market stall next to the restaurant. Excellent quality and rare products. Great choice of wines, especially orange wines. Sometimes food is accompanied by a DJ. Prices are quite high but match the quality. Menu changes according to availability of the seafood. Standards are fried mixed seafood and bruschetta with marinated anchovies. Only outdoor seating. (Price varies according to choice, 15-50 Euro)"

"we stumbled upon this GLORIOUS restaurant today for lunch and oh my, what a find!! The food was insanely good, there were many ooo’s and ahh’s as they brought food out as it was ready and every dish we had was packed full of delicious, fresh flavours. The atmosphere is super relaxed and cool, and felt very authentic. They were kind enough to say thank you with a few bruschetta’s for coming to have lunch on such a hot day (when most people were inside, likely with the air con on high) and the service overall was fantastic, really lovely people who just seemed to want us to have a lovely time- which we did!! can’t recommend visiting here enough, I wish I could eat here every day!!!"

Learn about Wine: Sicily | Italy | Regions
The key autochthonous grapes, their zones and producers that are leading the (re) emergence of Sicilian fine wine are: white Grillo and Zibibbo around Marsala (producer Marco de Bartoli); white Catarratto and red Perricone in the centre/north (Valdibella and Porta del Vento); red Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio, and Nocera grapes of Faro (Bonavita); Nerello Mascalese and white Carricante of Etna (Graci); red Nero d’Avola of Noto (Rigoria); and the red Frappato of Cerasuolo di Vittoria fame (Arianna Occhipinti and COS) The good name of Marsala was created by the British during the18th century, but ruined by the Italians when they took over the industry in the late 19th century, turning it into merely a cooking ingredient. Now the likes of Marco De Bartoli are reviving the quality and reputation; turning the clocks back.
