"My wife and I made came here for lunch on our way back from Spello to Rome before heading home to the US. We wanted somewhere special on our last day and Ristorante Trattoria Il Capanno was the perfect place!
We made a reservation online weeks prior and when we arrived we were immediately greeted by name as if they were waiting for us! The service was impeccable. Even though we do not speak Italian the server was still attentive and helped walk us through the menu the best they could. He also provided a link to the website menu so we could use our phones to translate.
The location itself is out of a fairytale. It is absolutely stunning. Up in the hills away from the highway, but a very easy drive. When you arrive the restaurant is the only building in site and completely secluded. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful, but we chose to eat outside on the gorgeous terrace. We came for the lunch hour at 1:30 and ate alongside only 1 other couple. It felt like a private lunch on in someone’s beautiful Italian villa (because it was)! The service was impeccable and we felt so special and welcomed.
For food, we chose the Fettuccine al ragù bianco di Piccione (Pigeon Ragu) and Passatelli con vellutata di pomodori arrosto, stracciatella di burrata e basilico. Then we had the wild boar for a second course and espresso to finish. Everything was absolutely incredible. We thought the prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and location and would have been fine paying even more for what we got!
