Located in the heart of Piazza Tasso, Bar Fauno is an iconic establishment that has been a cornerstone of Sorrento’s hospitality since 1950. This renowned bar, frequented by both locals and tourists alike, is a must-visit for anyone seeking traditional Italian pastries, such as cornetti and sfogliatella, or a hearty full English breakfast. The outdoor seating area provides a perfect vantage point for people-watching and absorbing the lively atmosphere of Sorrento.

Piazza Tasso offers a variety of activities for visitors: Dining and Cafes: Enjoy a coffee or aperitivo at iconic spots like Fauno Bar, a favorite among locals and tourists. Shopping: Explore the surrounding streets, filled with boutique shops selling artisan crafts, limoncello, and Italian leather goods. Sightseeing: Admire the historic buildings and landmarks around the square, such as the Palazzo Correale and the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine.

This bar is right in the middle of Sorrento and is perfect for a rest and some people watching before heading to dinner. By the time we sit down for Aperitivo hour David and I are usually pretty starving after a day full of walking so we always love places that give you lots of snacks!. They also did the craziest garnishes in our Spritzes of Pineapple and Nectarine.

Fauno: Located right in the heart of Sorrento, just below the famous Piazza Tasso, Fauno nightclub is a popular destination for nightlife. The entrance is next to the Fauno bar, which is also a well-known place throughout the city. This nightclub is popular with young people and is especially busy in winter, when residents and tourists mix on the dance floor.

As you head to Piazza Tasso, slap bang in the middle of everything, you’ll find Fauno Bar. I spotted senza glutine offerings on the menu so would’ve tried this place if I had longer. Just round the corner from here is a heart-stopping surprise: a massive drop in the ground that looks over a massive valley caused by a volcanic eruption.

Having coffee is an obligatory part of Italian culture and no trip to Sorrento would be complete without it. Have your coffee al banco (coffee at the counter) as Italians do, or get a table overlooking Piazza Tasso. This way, you’ll enjoy the theatrical passing of Vespas (the traditional Italian motorcycle) or people-watching.

Locals and visitors alike enjoy the lively terrace of the Fauno Bar, Piazza Tasso 13 (tel. 081-8781135; www.faunobar.it), for an aperitivo (aperitif) and people-watching till late into the evening. Other popular venues for pre- and postdinner drinks are, of course, the romantic terraces of the many historic hotels.

Located in the square is Fauno Bar, which has a huge outside area for eating and drinking. We popped by at 10pm one evening and had some cocktails, beer and amaretto (just with ice is delicious). The Gin Fizz was particularly tasty but there are many more to try.

Of all the Sorrento restaurants I went to the Fauno bar was the most frequented. It happened to be right outside the apartment style condo I was staying in. Located in the middle of Piazza Tasso, you would think this place would be a tourist trap.

Not only is the menu here designed with everyone in mind, Fauno Bar in Piazza Tasso is in a great location for meeting up over a coffee and some food and the central position is perfect for some people watching in the sun.

Fauna Bar has more limited options but the ravioli I got was still yummy. It is in the middle of a busy square in Sorrento so it was pretty packed!. You can see more of my reviews on my instagram @glutenfree_allie!
