What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ristorante L'Aratro garners praise for its exceptional value antipasto and unique trulli ambiance. While many rave about the friendly service and delicious homemade dishes, some diners find the prices high for the perceived quality, with a few reviews noting disappointing pasta and preparation. It's particularly recommended for its starter platters and atmosphere over traditional pasta dishes.
"This is the best restaurant in Italy I had so far. It is even better than restaurant in Naples and Rome.
The antipasto is unbelievable amazing !!!! 10 dishes for only $27 Euro, each is only $2.7 ?! Crazyyyyy good value.
To be honest, we didn’t know that at beginning, so when they sent us first 4 plates, we were like not bad for $27, then 6 plates came, we were surprised and fulfilled then 8 plates came, we started to worry if we order something wrong which may cause $100 Euro, then we asked the waiter and make sure we did the right order and there were two more plates coming.
We really shocked by the good value of money and all plates tasted amazing like Fine dinning level.
To be honest, for only the 10 plates antipasto, we would pay $100 AUD each in Sydney for a fine dinning restaurant.
Unbelievable amazing restaurant, definitely the No.1 restaurant in Italy I ever had."

"We stopped here for lunch. We didn’t have a reservation, but they took us in.
We had local white wine, cheese platter and two main courses. We weren’t wowed by the taste of the food. It was OK, but nothing special, especially not for the price.
Service and atmosphere were great!"

"Cosy spot, top tier service, well catered to allergies and freshly made pasta! Finished off with a delicious ice cream dessert and some sugar & cinnamon coated almonds too"

Alberobello: Trulli Different
Our first stop was for lunch at L’Aratro where Domenico Laera, the owner personally took care us. He is a very colorful and charming character; we enjoyed his jocular exchanges in Italian with Carlo Romano, our resourceful guide and driver during our stay in Puglia. The food was fantastic (I think I had my favorite pasta dish in Puglia here) and the setting in a multiple trulli building made it a perfect place for lunch.
