Reviews Summary

Trattoria Da Teo is a beloved Roman trattoria known for its authentic dishes and generous portions, especially its exceptional pasta dishes. Diners often praise the friendly and comical service, which can elevate the dining experience significantly. While the food is generally lauded, some reviews mention inconsistency in seasoning or service attentiveness.

"Best meal during my 3 weeks in Italy!!!! We had fried calamari with artichokes, zucchini flowers, cacio e pepe and vongole. Every dish was absolutely stellar and we will forever dream of them, especially the pasta!

On top of the amazing meal, what truly blew us away was the one of a kind, indescribably lovely and fantastic service by the server in the picture!!! So friendly, cheery, welcoming, helpful and was such a jokester in the best way possible. Amazing recommendations, attentive to our needs and was the kindest, giving us delicious desserts to top our meal off!!! Possibly the best service I've ever come across. All the staff were very attentive as well. I really can't recommend this place enough. If you're thinking whether you should come here, just do it you won't regret it!!!

BOOK IN ADVANCE!! When we went it was completely full and only reservations could go in."

Pearlyn Ang

"The visit started off with the lady running the restaurant disregarding our request to move tables, away from all the smokers, right next to our table. It appeared she was friends with them so expect little to no service or accommodations.
The server was a little grumpy with a thick accent which made it difficult to understand being a visitor.
The food was on the salty side but was good until the salt became overwhelming.
The berries and cream was awesome along with the tiramisu until you reached the coffee. lol."

Jeremiah Stephen

"We visited this popular restaurant in Rome and we loved it. It's not easy to book a table, but when we arrived they straight away accommodated us. Our waiter was great explaining all the specials of the day and the menu options too. The food was really good and the atmosphere was amazing. The owner Teo came over to check how our experience was and we managed to get a picture with him. We felt at home. We really recommend it to our family and friends. See you next time and all the best!"

41 Best Restaurants in Rome, According to a Local Expert

Good restaurants in Trastevere can be hard to come by these days, but upon entering Da Teo, all signs point to us being in the right place. Don’t come here expecting anything more (or less) than Roman classics–albeit perfectly executed. Start with the crispy, salty, utterly delicious zucchini blossoms (handily priced per piece), followed by one of the pastas–if you’re here on Thursdays go for the gnocchi, otherwise their spaghetti with fresh tuna, capers, and olives is particularly good.

10 Best Pasta Restaurants in Rome, By A Local Foodie

A well-loved dish usually enjoyed at home, penne all’arrabbiata can be tricky to find at restaurants in Italy. And it’s a shame, as nothing hits the spot quite like this spicy sauce made with tomato and pepperoncino when you fancy something with a kick. Where to eat it: A great place to order this dish is Trattoria Da Teo, one of the best trattorias in the city.

The Foods You Need To Try When In Rome

Aptly named “jump in your mouth”, this typical secondo (main dish) is juicy and delicious. Hearty slices of veal are topped with prosciutto crudo and fresh sage, then marinated with white wine. Saltimbocca alla romana is classic Roman cooking at its best – simple yet succulent.

ROME’S BEST OUTSIDE EATERIES – Welcome to Italy

With winding streets, ivy-covered walls, and small churches embedded amongst bookshops and restaurants, Trastevere is an absolutely charming neighborhood to eat outside. Trattoria da Teo is one of the uniquely authentic Italian ‘trattorie,’ serving large plates of Roman specialities like ‘carticiofi alla romana,’ which are artichokes cooked Roman style in olive oil and garlic and Rome’s pasta dishes like ’pasta carbonara,’ ‘pasta amatriciana,’ and ‘cacio e pepe.’ For a table in the evening, especially a table outside in the little courtyard, call and make a reservation. Like many traditional Italian restaurants, da Teo closes between lunch and dinner service.

Trattoria Da Teo is located in a typical Trastevere square and in addition to the indoor dining rooms offers a delightful veranda where you can dine al fresco, admiring the charm of the neighbourhood. This is no small feat, given the beauty of Roman evenings and the magic one breathes in the alleys. Teo and Tiziana, the owners, offer traditional Lazio dishes, but also fish specialities, grilled meat and, when in season, the local white truffle and porcini mushrooms.

Trastevere is filled with delightful Roman eateries but our favorite is undoubtedly Trattoria Da Teo. The restaurant is tucked into a corner in an unassuming little piazza and has plenty of outdoor (and indoor) seating so it’s a great place to try dishes like amatriciana, carciofi, and, cacio e pepe at any time of the year. 10 Best Restaurants In Trastevere In 2025

Opened by a former chef at Da Enzo (hence, presumably, the similar name), Da Teo is a charming family-run restaurant that’s a firm favourite among locals. You’ll find it on a lovely little piazza, far enough away from the freneticism of the center to offer peace and quiet for a romantic Roman dinner. Make sure to try the homemade ravioli ricotta e spinaci (spinach and ricotta ravioli) which may well be the best in Rome.
