Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the authentic Roman cuisine, highlighting dishes like suckling pig and handmade pasta as outstanding. The cozy, family-run atmosphere and exceptionally friendly service contribute to a memorable dining experience. While some find it slightly pricier than other trattorias, the quality, generous portions, and overall experience are consistently praised as well worth it.

"Excellent dinner! I had the burrata, the side salad and the lasagna — and it was just A+, 11/10. If I lived in Rome I’d be a regular here; if I could give more than five stars, I would :) shoutout to Anna for her kind and attentive service. Hope to be back next time I’m here"

D Arslan

"Absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff were so helpful and took the time to explain the dishes to us. We had the suckling pig which was the nicest pork I've had.
Desserts were homemade and well worth a try.
Prices were very reasonable.
You will need to book in advance if you want a guaranteed seat/team."

Stuart Wadley

"I only write reviews on places that people need to go to or completely avoid. This place, as you can tell by the stars, is a must go.

The staff is multilingual and very kind. I felt comfortable using my limited Italian and they understood me when I couldn't.

The food is excellent and well prepared. Everything is fresh and made to order. I can keep going on, but this is a review, not a novel. Come stay awhile in their welcoming Italian restaurant, and enjoy anything and everything on the menu. Don't forget the dessert wine. Saluti!"

Where to Eat in Rome on a Sunday

You’ll often run into me at Cesare al Casaletto for lunch or Tavernaccia Da Bruno for dinner, but only when I have remembered to make a reservation well in advance. Sunday tables are typically scarce, so be sure you make your plans a week or two ahead of time (at least), especially because 2024 promises to be the busiest tourism year to date and 2025 will match, if not surpass, it. Wherever you end up, start the day with a coffee and a pastry at Barnum, Roscioli Caffè, Faro, Love, or Pasticceria Regoli.

Opened in 1968 and still run by the same family, La Tavernaccia Da Bruno combines traditional Roman and Umbrian dishes with warm hospitality. Inside the rustic, stone-walled dining room, feast on plates of bruschetta with cured lard and honey, pappardelle with wild boar ragù, and wood-fired suckling pig with rosemary-flecked potatoes — all simple and memorable. Go for Sunday lunch, when you'll be surrounded by tables crowded with spirited local families, and the lasagna is usually on special.
