If you want to do as Romans do, skip the touristy Two Sizes for Tiramisu and head to the local favorite Pompi Tiramisu instead. One of my favorite Italian desserts is without a doubt the classic tiramisu, I’m obsessed, and when I asked my Roman friend for a recommendation to get the most authentic one in Rome, she unflinchingly directed me to Pompi Tiramisu. Similar to the maritozzi in Regoli Pasticceria, Pompi tiramisu is a place that locals will frequent to get a tiramisu to take with them for their family reunions, and if that’s not the ultimate Italian stamp of approval, I don’t know what is.

For more than 50 years, Bar Pompi gelateria and pasticceria has been a traditional Roman staple when it comes to tiramisu. Albeit, you can probably find good tiramisu around town, but nothing come close to Bar Pompi. This bar is considered the king of all tiramisu and for years Romans would travel half way across the city to get their hands on one of their decadent tiramisu from their flagship store in the San Giovanni district near Piazza Re di Roma at via Albalonga 7b-9-11.

One of the first Italian desserts that come to mind would be the tiramisu. Translated into “pick me up“ in English, this highly raved classic Italian staple is ubiquitous in Rome, and the place which has been serving Rome’s most celebrated tiramisu since 1962 is none other than Bar Pompi. This gelateria and pasticceria have been crowned as the king of tiramisu.

The best pastry shops in Rome include Sant’Eustachio Il Caffè, Pasticceria Regoli, and Bar Pompi, which offer a wide range of delicious pastries, including tiramisu, cannoli, and babà, and are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth, and can be found in the city center and trendy neighborhoods, such as Trastevere and Monti.

Pompi is widely recognized as having the best tiramisù in Rome, which very few Romans will contradict. If you are dining near the Spanish Steps, we recommend you skip dessert, take a passaggiata (walk), and try the tiramisù at Pompi since it is the best. Make sure you get there before it closes, so you don’t miss out.

Everyone who has been to Rome in the past will tell you you must go to Pompi, and for good reason. Pompi is a little tiramisu bakery in the north of Trevi. They do a variety of traditional tiramisus in a range of flavors; everything from original to hazelnut and even banana (which is mind blowing, for the record).

Pompi Tiramisù is an excellent shop selling tiramisu near the Spanish Steps, one of the best-known landmarks in Rome. I recommend getting an order and then heading over to the plaza to people-watch. They also have locations near the Trevi Fountain and the Vatican, as well as in Florence.
