But if you are insistent on expanding your knowledge of ancient Roman history, then be sure to treat yourself to a great drink afterward.

The American Bar is for that extra special celebration to share with your nearest and dearest – or a quiet romantic date. It yields an old school charm, if not a little touristy as the name suggests, and is as close to the Roman Forum as you could be on a rooftop in Rome. But long before the 1960s, the building operated as a convent attached to the adjacent church of San Quirico e Giulitta.

The four stars Hotel Forum has a terrace full of greenery on the top floor, which is mainly famous as the place for the perfect romantic date. Moreover, the restaurant has a beautiful view of the Colosseum and three Roman Forums. It is worth mentioning the variety of dishes that Hotel Forum Rooftop offers its guests, where each can find something that matches his tastes.

One reason I love this place so much is that it feels cozy and even a little secret (it's not a secret, but it feels like it is!). I also love that it's right near the Colosseum and Roman Forum, which makes it a great spot for a rooftop aperitivo after some intense sight-seeing. There is no view of the Colosseum, but the views of Fori Imperiali are fantastic!

As we were staying in Monti near the popular attractions like the Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum and Trevi Fountain, we tended to eat around this area. The American Bar at the Hotel Forum offers up views of Rome’s most ancient sites. This rooftop bar sits is on the edge of the Forum of Nerva in the Monti neighborhood. You can see the Vittoriano monument, Palatine hill and the Imperial Forums from here.

For the best views of the Roman Forum, I highly recommend the Hotel Forum. It’s perfectly located for an afternoon exploring the Roman temple ruins. The hotel is an old 18th-century relic with Persian rugs in the hallways and ornate décor throughout.

Hotel Forum is a place where we at times we organize and photograph small elopement weddings in Rome. It doesn’t have a large outside seating arrangement. It has a very small terrace up at the very top, above the rooftop restaurant rome.
