Reviews Summary

Ai Tre Scalini is celebrated for its fantastic Roman cuisine and vibrant, friendly atmosphere, making diners feel right at home. Patrons rave about the delicious food, extensive wine list, and attentive service. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, some note that certain meat dishes could be slightly dry, and the popular spot can get very busy.

"Came for a drink, stayed for food. Ambiance is great, there were lots of locals hanging out on the evening we went. We started with wine and beer, but decided to eat as well as we saw food come out for other tables. The food was delicious. We had the octopus salad and the grilled chicken dish. We also shared the Cacio e Pepe ravioli. Ended up making friends with the table next to us (two locals with great recommendations). Server was very nice and didn’t rush us out after our meal was finished. Would definitely recommend for a casual dinner/drinks spot"

Richard Burke

"Very nice restaurant for lunch, had a lovely time sitting outside. They have a nice selection of wine. The prosciutto appetizer was very good as well as the lasagna. Our server was really nice and attentive"

Stephanie Troice

"Beautiful restaurant set in beautiful Monti! Service was very friendly, with a smile and nice. Food was delicious. We got a lot of appetizers to try and then had the ricotta ravioli/ Cacio I Pepe and it was sublime! Highly recommend this place! Prices are great. Super cute patio and lots of space inside too. Enjoy! Ciao! 🇮🇹🍝"

Ai Tre Scalini has been a mainstay in Rome’s drinking and dining scene for over a century, and its enduring popularity doesn’t seem to wane with the passing of time: it attracts an eclectic crowd at all hours of the day and night and many patrons resort to drinking their wine outside come evening, propped up on vespas with a cigarette in hand. This bistro and bottiglieria exudes Roman charm, with many menu items written in dialect, and offers a number of wines by the glass that you can complement with hearty appetizers and entrees. You can feel the weight of history in its atmospheric interior, but this is one wine-bar that’s never stuffy - Ai Tre Scalini draws a hip young crowd attracted by the reasonably priced wines by the glass and carafe. Located on the corner of Via Panisperna, you’ll know you’re in the right place when you spy the wonderful creeping vines that snake their way over the street.
