Ai Tre Scalini is one of the best known addresses in the area and despite being popular with tourist, it still remains a good family friendly restaurants in Monti to taste traditional Italian cuisine. Options for kids include meatballs, cannelloni and ravioli and they have a nice selection of dessert too.

Ai Tre Scalini has been offering fantastic wine and delicious food since 1985. The staff are charming and the food is honest and well priced. From the outside it is unmissable, with its ivy-coated walls and Italians pouring out onto the cobbled street, holding their glasses of wine.

As I mentioned earlier, the Italians love wines and they make much better wines than the French does. If you are skeptic, visit this wine bar in Rome when you go to Italy on a holiday. Almost every province/region in Italy makes wines from the locally cultivated grapes.

I had been vaguely aware of Ai Tre Scalini, but was compelled to check it out by a strong recommendation from our Air B&B hosts. I would venture that Ai Tre Scalini vaguely a wine bar. It’s more of a general bar and restaurant, with a good changing chalkboard wine list.

However, we recommend Salotto 42 located near the Pantheon for a trendy atmosphere, Freni and Frizioni in Trastevere for a huge vegetarian-friendly buffet, and Ai Tre Scalini in Monti for amazing craft beers. What a perfect way to get the evening started, am I right?
