Reviews Summary

Mediterranea Piazza Piccinino is highly praised for its authentic and delicious Neapolitan pizzas, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. Many customers rave about the quality ingredients, quick preparation, and affordable prices, making it a must-visit in Perugia. However, a few reviewers noted an unfriendly staff member and found the ingredients or pizza itself to be average.

"Stopped by this pizzeria randomly to get takeaway pizza one day while in Perugia. This ended up being one of the best pizzas we had in the area.
Good price and quick delivery, the pizza toppings tasted quality and the dough was thin where it needed to be and chewy and light and the crust. Really great."

Lilian Hu Nguyen

"Friendly service, fast, and–most importantly–delicious pizza!"

Chris Goward

"The girl with short hair who attended us wasn’t friendly at all. Not only wasn’t she with us, but with other guests that entered the restaurant either, which was quite uncomfortable.
The pizzas were quite normal, even if we went for some of the most special ones: Costiera and La Luca's. The ingredients were not of the best quality and the mushrooms on the pizza tasted as if they were tinned, not fresh… wouldn’t go back."

Most popular among plenty of cheap pizzerie is Mediterranea, at Piazza Piccinino 11 (tel. 075/572-4021). Pizzas cost 6€ to 8€, and it’s open daily (Mon–Fri noon–2:30pm and 7–11pm; weekends 7–11pm). Top choice for a panino is La Bottega di Perugia, Piazza Francesco Morlacchi 4 (www.labottegadiperugia.it; tel. 075/573–2965), whose young proprietors pride themselves on using only local Umbrian hams, greens, and other ingredients; panini cost about 4€ and can be washed down with wine or beer (Mon–Sat 10:30am–12:30am).

Mediterranea: Enjoy pizzas made from a forno a legna (wooden oven) and don’t miss the Margarita pizza which is a must-try, with its classic combination of tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil. For something heartier, go for the Salsicciae Patate (Sausage and Potatoes) pizza, the Capricciosa, or Carbonara. Finally, don’t forget to indulge your sweet tooth with the Nutella Pizza for dessert (or dinner if you prefer)!
