Diners rave about L'Ortale's enchanting garden oasis and delicious charcuterie boards, highlighting the unique drinks and friendly staff. While some mention slow service or order at the counter style, the overall consensus is that it's a hidden gem worth visiting for its cozy atmosphere and quality Italian delicacies. The inviting outdoor seating areas, including a rooftop terrace, are a major draw for creating a relaxing dining experience.

"Beautiful set up. From the outside, you wouldn’t think that they’d have such a gorgeous rooftop terrace. The food was very yummy with enough options to not feel confined. Service was fast and staff was friendly. We went for lunch but I would have loved to have the chance to see it in the evening."

Romyn Vigne

"Great food and incredibly tasty drinks. Simply a very nice atmosphere. The bar is an insider tip, best in town!"

Simon Wolters

"A hidden gem. Great food and drinks. I enjoyed the Caffe Leccese, and I had been to a lot of Caffe bars in Salento and it was only here that someone explained to me how to drink it. Very kind and nice people. Thank you."

Where to eat and drink in Otranto

It’s a cute little wine shop and deli that has a secret garden tucked away behind the shop that serves drinks and food. It does get very busy so I recommend booking a table – especially if you’re looking to eat here too. We didn’t have a booking but they managed to fit us in, although it was right at the back of the garden.

Discover Otranto, Salento’s most beautiful seaside town

L’Ortale was our favourite place and it deserves at least one visit. It’s just a deli, not a restaurant, offering cold cuts and cheese boards; however, the back garden is beautiful and the ambience is great. There is also live music and very good local wines.
