Reviews Summary

Cibi Cotti is lauded as a true hidden gem for its authentic, home-style Neapolitan cuisine and incredibly friendly service. Diners rave about the delicious flavors that evoke a 'grandma's kitchen' feel and the exceptional value for money. However, some visitors have noted that dishes can be served at room temperature, and the facilities are very basic.

"This place is so worth the trip. I walked an hour and a half from my apartment because it was such a beautiful day today. And decided I would reward myself with some food from here. My only advice is don't go in and order when you're over hungry haha
I ended up ordering the breaded meal cutlet and it was so delicious! I ordered the bacalao with tomato and black olive. I ordered the oracchetti pasta and then I also got the grilled squid on toast. I originally planned on vegetables and just one entree haha but I have the food for the day. I walked out to a table out by the Sea. Enjoyed some of my food. It was absolutely delicious!. The service was fantastic. Super friendly... He laughed when I said I only needed one fork lol wonderful! Wonderful food"

"The definition of "hidden gem". This spot is literally hidden inside a local market, you won't find it just walking around the area, and probably that's what makes it so authentic. When you see all the locals eating here you know it's the real deal.

No menu, no listed prices. Just some freshly homemade food on exhibition to pick from. We had pasta e patate (a Napoletan classic), some cooked vegetables and the octopus. All of it was outstanding, the taste was delicious. This is how homemade Napoletan food should taste like.

The service was super friendly, and even though they could have taken advantage of us since we were tourists, I am pretty sure they didn't considering how cheap the food was (20 EUR for the three dishes, I believe the octopus was 9 EUR, the pasta 4 EUR and the mixed vegetables 7 EUR). There is no coperto charge, but beware that if you eat the bread on the table you'll pay an extra euro."

"A cafe style restaurant. There is a variety of food made for lunch, but no menu. Service was good and friendly. Food was very enjoyable- homemade Neapolitan."

The 14 best places to eat in Naples

If you weren’t lucky enough to be born with your own Italian nonna, this legendary market eatery – look for the weeny, no-frills space tucked beside wooden crates of fruit and veg at covered Mercato della Torretta – is the next best thing. Shopkeepers, stall holders and office workers from the ’hood can’t get enough of the bargain-priced trippa al sugo (tripe in tomato sauce), tracchia al ragù (pork rib tips in slow-cooked ragù), ceci e scarole (chickpeas and greens) and other time-honored Neapolitan classics cooked with love, sweat and exceptional flavor by Anna Pappalardo from 1968 until she died in 2017. Her children and nephews steer the ship with almost equal aplomb.

Where to Find Great, Cheap Food in Naples, Italy

Born in 1924 and still cooking, Nonna Anna is known as the "Regina della Cucina" (queen of the kitchen). Her small trattoria has been serving casareccia since 1969 and she has a loyal client base—many of whom have been eating there that long. Since the fish markets, produce stands and butcher shops surround this little marketplace, the food is super fresh and the cheapest we found in the city.
