Reviews Summary
Caffè Fiaschetteria Italiana 1888 is praised for its historic ambiance and exceptional wine selection, particularly Brunello. Many visitors appreciate the charming Art Nouveau interior and the lively atmosphere, especially when seated outdoors. However, some diners have noted exceptionally high prices and inconsistent service, with a few experiencing rudeness from staff.
"This is the place to visit for lunch or a coffee if you are in Montalcino. We have been here every time we are in Tuscany and visit Montalcino (since at least 15 years). Service, quality of food remains impeccable. The choice of wines is amazing too.
Definitely worth a visit or two or more"

"Wow, just wow! This is hands down the best spot in Montalcino for an incredible selection of wines. At first glance, it seems quite unassuming, but the moment you step inside, you're transported to a charming 1950s traditional Italian café. Their catalogue of Brunellos is truly impressive, and the prices are remarkably reasonable, especially considering the quality. The service is exceptional, with special mention to Giuseppe, who made the experience even more memorable. The interior is beautifully designed, and the cellar adds a touch of elegance to the atmosphere. The food pairings with each wine were simply perfect. Highly recommend this hidden gem!"

"Just stopped for an aperol spritz (which was €9...). Drink came with some chips and pretzels which was lovely. Sat outside for the view and ambience. It was nice but I also ate smoke. Bit of attitude from the waiter- possibly just his personality but doesn't come across well with customers"

Time travel: 4 historic cafés in Tuscany
A true Art Nouveau masterpiece, the Caffè Fiaschetteria Italiana is located at the heart of Montalcino and was established by Ferruccio Biondi Santi, the father of Brunello. An enological and cultural hub for local producers and a destination for tourists from all over the world, it is a place that has remained unchanged over time: the counter, shop windows, red velvet sofas, mirrors and yellow marble tables are the same as they were at the end of the 19th century.
BEST RESTAURANTS IN MONTALCINO
Lovers of Art Deco won't want to miss out on a Cappuccino at the Caffè Fiaschetteria Italiana. The bar has been going strong since 1888 and its historic setting will make you feel like you've stepped back into the early years of the 20st century. If you travel on a shoe-string budget do as the Italians do: no sitting down, just stand at the counter like the locals do for breakfast or for a quick glass of sparkling wine.
Montalcino Restaurants - My Favorite Montalcino Restaurants
The Caffè Fiaschetteria doubles as both the most popular bar or cafè in Montalcino and also a casual eatery to get a quick bite. I would actually recommend this restaurant for more of a cafè than an actual long, leisurely sit down meal. The Fiaschetteria is my top pick for quick eats and for the most lively and authentic casual experience.
