Reviews Summary

Diners rave about the unique atmosphere of this renovated farmhouse and the delicious, farm-to-table Italian cuisine, especially the homemade pasta. The beautiful garden setting is a major draw, offering a tranquil escape within the city. However, some find the service can be rigid and the prices a bit high for the value, with occasional issues like mosquitoes impacting the experience.

"I’ve only experienced the restaurant, not the hotel.
I visited with friends who thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the ambiance.
While the overall evening was extremely pleasant, the heat and mosquitoes did detract from the experience somewhat.
The staff made an effort to keep the insects at bay using “zampironi” (mosquito coils), but given the number of bugs, a more effective solution like an electric zapper might be worth considering.
That said, the food and wine were excellent—well-portioned and reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, and I’ll gladly return if I get the chance."

"We saw this on a tv programme and wanted to try it. Gorgeous location in the middle of a city. Only knocked a star off as the welcome was a bit lacking we were early and it would be an opportunity to offer a drink but we were asked to come back later. Found a place to sit and wait and managed to get a drink from an outdoor bar (only alcoholic drinks being served but I persuaded her to give me a glass with just tonic). The food was lovely, it maybe needed a bit more seasoning. Great selection of wines. Nice prosecco and a lovely dark rose."

Trisha Kelly

"I recommend booking a table here in the evening for a tasty dinner in a calm and beautiful environment. The food here is 10/10, the wine list is exiting with some favorites we have tried at the wineries (from roccafiore for example), and a table outside in the garden as the sun is setting is the perfect atmosphere. The pasta is home cooked and amazing, same with the foccacia!"

You’ll forget you’re in the city at Cascina Cuccagna, a former 18th-century farmstead that has been beautifully repurposed as a cultural space, guesthouse, restaurant and bar known as Un Posto a Milano. While the kitchen emphasises locally sourced ingredients, some direct from their vegetable garden, the drinks menu includes sulphate-free Italian wine, craft beers and quality cocktails. It also hosts a weekly farmer’s market along with creative classes and events.

Where to eat in Milan on Easter. The best restaurants chosen by Gambero Rosso

A countryside oasis just a stone's throw from Porta Romana, this farmhouse with a restaurant, vegetable garden, and guesthouse is a place that invites you to a leisurely stop. You can come for breakfast, to sunbathe or cool off, to listen to live music, to let the kids play. And to try Nicola Cavallaro's cuisine, who takes care of all the proposals and prepares simple but flavorful dishes, even for Easter lunch: homemade pickled vegetables among the appetizers, artisan lasagna with lamb ragout as a first course, grilled prussian blade tagliata, roasted lamb leg, garlic and rosemary roasted potatoes, and organic mixed salad with wild herbs to follow.

Porta Romana Restaurant Dining Guide

I’ve been dining at Un Posto a Milano before I officially lived in Milan and a recent visit has confirmed that Nicola Cavallaro’s farm-to-table fare remains spot on. The menu suits the ambiance: the dishes are rooted in Italian tradition but undercut with a refined farm-to-table flare, incorporating ingredients grown on-site and from local farms. Un Posto a Milano sits on the ground floor of Cascina Cuccagna, a restored 17th-century farmhouse in Porta Romana that once sat on the outskirts of Milan.

We talked about this place many times before, probably because it’s one of our favorites. It opened in 2012 in a restored farm, and is part of the complex called Cascina Cuccagna — actually more than just a space, more of a refuge from the city’s hustle and bustle!. The dishes are always seasonal, and the special thing about the ingredients used here is that they are always locally sourced — or KM0, as Italians say.
