Reviews Summary
Osteria San Giorgio is praised for its authentic Lucchese dishes with a creative touch and its charming, quiet courtyard setting. Diners often highlight the delicious pasta and risotto, as well as the well-prepared Tuscan steaks. While the service is generally friendly, some reviewers noted a slightly aloof demeanor at times, and a few found the prices on the higher side for the area, though overall value is often considered good.
"We have eaten here before, and both times, the food was amazing. The staff are very friendly and, by Lucca standards, the prices are reaso able. It's a bit hidden away down a narrow street, but once inside the gate there is a beautiful and quiet courtyard."

"The outdoor space is beautiful. We sat indoors with the AC and were happy for it. The decor is a bit hodge lodge, and I wouldn’t recommend the place based on the inside ambience- BUT- who cares? It was a good temperature, not too noisy, and both the service and the food were great. I would recommend any go. And great value for the money. My family of four loved everything we got (except the house red wine- next time, we’ll just buy a bottle). The mixed antipasti- so good! The stuffed pasta in a ragu- we had to order a second- the simple grilled steak- tender and flavourful. The contient- spinach and potatoes- yep, perfect. The chicken? Exceeded our expectations. We were too full for dessert but I bet they’re all authentic and tasty and not too heavy, either. (Oh, one last thing, the olive oil they brought to the table was also very good quality and so tasty)"

My Top 4 Restaurants in Lucca
Osteria San Giorgio Restaurant on Via San Giorgio is partly an outside patio, with tables also inside on a quiet street a few minute walk from Via Filungo, one of the main streets in Lucca. They serve traditional Lucchese plates but often with a creative twist such as saffron pasta or thin slices of zucchini wrapped around goat cheese, with basil and olive oil drizzle. Parts of the menu change each year I return, so this appetizer may not be on the menu again.

This local favorite has a courtyard out front and comfortably informal rooms decorated with old photos, all tucked away on a quiet street near the Piazza Anfiteatro. The menu is geared to neighbors looking for a home-cooked meal: with several soups, including a hearty farro alla…
Vanilla-Bean Gelato, Walled City, Lucca
Indulge in Tuscan-style steak, fish, and pasta in a rustic setting with brick arches and a shady courtyard. Highly recommended dishes include the gorgonzola gnocchi and burrata risotto. The kind staff and high-quality house wine complete the delicious experience.
Eating in Lucca
Instead, it is tucked into a little courtyard and serves excellent food and wine. It is a family-run restaurant and the gnocchi is some of the best I have ever eaten in Italy. And they have some creative appetizers and salads.
