What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Trattoria Nonna Tetti is celebrated for its authentic, homestyle Apulian cuisine and generous portions, offering a true taste of the region. Many diners praise the homemade pasta and the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes them feel like family. While the food is consistently good, some guests have noted that service can be slow during peak times, and occasionally, specific dishes may be slightly overcooked.
"One of the most local and authentic restaurants in the area. I went there without a reservation and I managed to get a seat thanks to the awesome waiters (they are incredibly hard-working, efficient, and kind; two of the best waiters I’ve ever seen), but a lot of people behind me got sent back home. If you plan to eat here (particularly during weekends), make sure to book a table in advance.
The food was awesome. We had 3 fully Pugliese dishes: the fave e cicorie, the orecchiette and the sagne 'ncannulate. Each of them was approximately 14 EUR. Our favorite was the orecchiette, but all of them were incredibly good. The homemade pasta has a quality that is typically hard to find in restaurants. It really felt like eating at home."

"What a find. Wonderful "real" food, great Italian atmosphere. I had one of the few vegetarian options (fried breaded scamorza), with the tasty and affordable house red, and a delicious fig and almond dessert. The place is full of Italians, always a good sign. I'll definitely come back."

"Recommended by our hotel, (Palazzo de Noha), for traditional no frills Puglian food, and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant has a real homely feel and the staff were very pleasant and knowledgeable about the food and wine, (spoke great English).
It gets busy, so either call in to book a table or be prepared to wait. Due to it's popularity, the service isn't the quickest, but totally acceptable, (unless you a group of 6 rude french tourists that they offered to accommodate without a booking, but didn't appreciate the wait to be served and were very rude to the waiter).
If you want real local food in a traditional restaurant, you must give it a go."

If you want to immerse yourself in a true Salento gastronomic experience for a modest price, you can try all these and other traditional dishes, in their original version, in many typical trattorias: Trattoria Da Nonna Tetti, a typical location made of Leccese stone in the heart of the old town, with wooden furnishings and a serveware made of terracotta crockery and Salento ceramics. La vecchia Osteria da Totu, a quiet, historic trattoria set in a characteristic alleyway in the town centre.
The Best Restaurants in Lecce, Italy: My Must-Eat Spots
Trattoria Nonna Tetti is one of my favorite go-to spots in Lecce when I’m craving simple, down-to-earth Salentine food that hits all the right notes. Tucked into a quiet corner of the historic center, it’s a place where the vaulted stone ceilings and rustic wooden furniture make you feel like you’ve stepped into Nonna’s home. What I love most is the focus on hearty, traditional dishes without any unnecessary frills.

Another place that I like is the Trattoria of Nonna Tetti, located at Piazzetta Queen Mary 17 in the historic center. It’s a little bit hard to find, but it’s worth it. An inviting restaurant, popular with all ages and budgets, this trattoria serves a wide choice of traditional dishes, is not expensive, and really makes people feel at home.

Our first meal in Lecce was lunch at Trattoria Nonna Tetti, shortly after we arrived. The restaurant was about a 10 minute walk from our hotel. We ordered the antipasti to share and it was quite generous with five different plates hitting the table.

Following the advise of a lot of friends, I tried this place in the last few days. Even if I had booked I had to wait almost an hour to be seated but I think it depended on the incredible flux of the holiday period. It proposes a good fish menu.
