What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Martinucci Lecce is renowned for its exceptional gelato and pastries, particularly the Pasticciotto, often described as the best in Lecce. While the quality of sweets and coffee receives high praise, some visitors have experienced significant issues with service, citing long waits and uncoordinated staff. There are also concerns about pricing discrepancies between counter and table orders, and a notable complaint about restroom conditions.
"We had fun relaxing here and enjoyed our server, the fantastic Francesco!
This is a great place to sip a beverage as you look into the main touristy plaza and maybe also get some food or a gelato! Reasonable prices. Lots of outdoor seating.

"During the last 2 weeks in Lecce we visited about 4 times the
Martinucci pastry shop (but who's counting?). The pasticciotto was absolutely impeccable every time, we tried the chocolate one, the pistachio-cream one, but the traditional was our favourite. The cannolo and fig pastry were also delicious, they went great with the caffé leccese."

"The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was excellent, truly top-tier in both taste and hospitality. However, I was extremely disappointed by the state of the restroom. For a restaurant of this caliber and price range, having such poor restroom conditions , including no running water to wash hands , is simply unacceptable. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as it really impacts the overall dining experience."

Puglia – Lecce’s historic homes
Among the best places to find it are at Natale on Via Trinchese, Chantilly in Piazza Ariosto, Aldemorisco on Via Foscarini and Citiso on Via Oberdan, as well as a branch of the omnipresent Martinucci pastry chain. For regional wines and purchases of the increasingly rare extra virgin olive oil (which has suffered devastation caused by the silent plant killer Xylella, drastically changing the landscape of the Lecce province), we suggest you try Wine&More or Enoteca Merum, which also offer excellent tastings, or Pippi Nocco in the heart of the metropolis. Lecce is famous for its craftsmanship in paper-mâché, and even has a museum dedicated to this art in the Castello Carlo V. Ceramic-making is also celebrated, most notably the pumo, which takes the shape of a bud surrounded by ornamental leaves and was created in honour of the goddess Pomona, protector of all fruits.
Pasticcerias, Gelaterias & Cafes in Lecce
Martinucci is well known in Salento and across Puglia as a chain of good quality pasticcerias with large sites in all the main tourist hotspots, and even an outpost in Rome. Their new site in Lecce has revitalised the former McDonald’s, smack bang in the middle of Piazza Sant’oronzo and it’s backed up by their reliable pasticcerie, which are always outstanding across all their sites. It’s hard to argue the selection of pasticciotti aren’t some of the best, if not the best in all of Lecce.
