The story of Trattoria dell’Acciughetta is one of an urban revival as well as a culinary one. The trattoria, opened by Giorgia Losi in 2015, faces Piazza Sant’Elena, but one of its windows overlooks Via Prè, a continuation of Via del Campo and a melting pot of humanity that was very dear to the famous Italian singer-songwriter Fabrizio De Andrè. Today, area’s role as a cultural hub continues, and it’s here that one of the most interesting restaurants on the city’s culinary scene opened its doors and, within a few years, managed to gain a spot in the Gambero Rosso Guide to Italian Restaurants.

Nota come un punto di riferimento per gli amanti del pesce, la Trattoria dell’Acciughetta è schizzata fin dalla sua apertura (nel 2015) nei primi posti su Tripadvisor Genova. Con uno staff giovanissimo, gentile ed estremamente preparato, propone un menu ligure creativo a base di pesce azzurro ed è, secondo me, una delle migliori trattorie di Genova centro storico.

If you’ve read some of the other articles on my site, you’ll realize that I’ve included it in almost every ranking of the best restaurants and trattorias in Genoa, and there’s a reason why. Known as a landmark for seafood lovers, Trattoria dell’Acciughetta has skyrocketed to the top spots on TripAdvisor Genoa since its opening (in 2015). With a very young, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable staff, it offers a creative Ligurian menu based on oily fish and is, in my opinion, one of the best trattorias in Genoa’s historic center.

With its fresh, contemporary style, driftwood decor and young team, this place is a firm favourite with the locals. The menu of imaginative dishes consists mainly of seasonal seafood combined with Ligurian herbs and veg but also braised veal cheek or trofie pasta with homemade pesto, and there’s an enticing range of wines from small producers. Behind this establishment’s success is a passionate team that has created a very interesting reality, not just gastronomically. The menu is a mix of various traditions from Italy and around the world, with enticing dishes where fish is the main protagonist. On the menu, you’ll find fried anchovy croquettes, Sori trofie al pesto, cod with broad bean hummus and herb prescinsêua, and sage and lemon panna cotta.
