"This place makes wonderfully flavored sandwiches. I tried salmon sandwich, it is extremely good, with fresh and toasty multi-grain bread, salmon, avocado and cheese. I also ordered fruit cup with pistachio and mango gelatos, both fruits and gelatos are fresh and delicious. The staff speaks English and there are tables outside for dinning. Highly recommend."

"Very delicious gelato! It was so rich and creamy 1 scoop in a cone is 3 Euro and two scoops was 4 Euro. There was seating outside where we rested after walking through the city. Everyone says the staff is unkind, however they are not unkind. They are just conducting their business, especially in times when it is very busy."

The latter also has a laudable sense of social responsibility: owner Martina Francesconi makes a point of employing asylum-seekers and disabled people, and sources all of its ingredients ethically and as locally as possible. Her newest gelato flavour is basil, developed to help the herb farmers in a valley near the Morandi Bridge who have been badly hit economically by the disaster.

E non si fatica a intuirne il motivo: il suo è un prodotto di qualità, disponibile in molte varianti, con tanto di opzioni per celiaci e vegani, e declinato in modi diversi, dai gusti classici a quelli più insoliti come il sorbetto al cioccolato fondente con infusione al pepe rosa. Non manca l'omaggio alla tradizione genovese, con il gelato al basilico, e poi tante preparazioni alla frutta, equilibrate e ben fatte.

The ethics of Gelatina is based on respect for the producers of raw materials and the search for traditional recipes or unprecedented work, which invite the consumer to live a full taste experience in the first bookstore in Italy about food. Faced with a glittering gelato cabinet, we had the tough job of selecting one gelato to have an espresso poured over the top for a top-notch affogato. I went with the Hazelnut Gelato for a nutty, creamy affogato.
