Reviews Summary

Gelateria Profumo is a highly acclaimed gelateria, lauded for its exceptional, award-winning gelato with unique and natural flavors. Many praise it as the best they've ever had, noting the creamy texture and transportive taste. However, some customers have expressed disappointment with a limited selection of flavors, and a few reviews mention unfriendly service.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is THE BEST gelato I have ever had. Toss my hat! It’s a little hidden and tucked a way but it’s such a gem when you find it. The lady inside was very helpful and generous with samples.

I had salted pistachio and fig/cinnamon, both were out of this world. The stark flavours transported me into a mental fairytale. An unforgettable experience. I’d go to Genova again just for this gelato.

Please come here, it’s in your own best interest!"

Julia Jyde

"Really good gelato in Genova!
Tried a 3 scoops gelato with pandolce, salted pistachio and dark chocolate.
Even though chocolate tasted a bit too sweet (but wonderful), it was my best Italian ice cream for quite a long time!
Hidden in a little street, it is well worth the detour and the friendly staff makes it an even better experience"

Julien Mombet

"Nice place. Great gelato, the staff were polite and friendly, offered to translate the flavours to us if we had any inquirities. The prices are low and the portions are normal so definitely worth a visit. Don't miss the opportunity to visit this place!"

There’s top-drawer gelato at both Profumo and, round the corner on the imposing Via Garibaldi, Gelatina. The latter also has a laudable sense of social responsibility: owner Martina Francesconi makes a point of employing asylum-seekers and disabled people, and sources all of its ingredients ethically and as locally as possible. Her newest gelato flavour is basil, developed to help the herb farmers in a valley near the Morandi Bridge who have been badly hit economically by the disaster.

While most gelaterias keep their colorful products out in plain view, luring children in from the street with their mounds of chocolate and mango and black cherry, Gelateria Profumo prefers to hide theirs in shiny frozen silver canisters. And yet tucked inside those containers are some of the most delicious, interesting flavors in town - and hands down, the creamiest.
