What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
La Lampara offers a lively seafood experience with the unique ability to select your own fresh fish. Diners praise the quality and freshness of the seafood, the authentic atmosphere, and the energetic staff. However, some patrons note that the service can be slow and that the prices might be on the higher side for the overall experience.
"We had the local lobster two ways(half with pasta, half grilled) and some clams as an appetizer. The price of the lobster and the clams is per 100 grams, which is normal. The staff took us inside, showed us the price before hand. If you do not understand something don’t be afraid to ask.
The atmosphere is really nice, the staff is really friendly and even if we did not speak Italian we got along with (Fer)Nando, the owner.
It is important to understand that you are not in a fast food place. You have to take your time to enjoy your meal, as Italians do.
Be friendly, have patience, drink some wine, enjoy life and prepare for a really good meal."

"Saw this place while walking and the very polite host convinced us to try the food. There is plenty of sea food in the menu but when I asked what dish can be made with the catch the only response was pasta with clams. So we had that which was quite average if not even tasteless. It also took ages to be served even though we were one of the two tables. We also had a vegetarian dish, which was actually quite good. The best taste was with the grilled prawns, only problem (and quite a big problem actually) was they were not cleaned. Service was poor and for the price tag out of season the waiter was somewhat rude."

"Fernando the host was incredible, his energy was infectious, and he truly sold the place to us as we walked the streets of gallipoli trying to decide where to get the best seafood meal. Despite the language barrier he still sold us!!!
Family owned and operated Fish lab , we had the gentleman behind the fish lab counter select a fresh seafood platter for us. 20euro per person, so 60 euro total and we had a full platter of raw fresh seafood! It did not disappoint and truly worth it! For a family of 3 this platter and grilled calamari was enough to fill our stomachs!
I highly recommend La Lampara. On our 2 night stay in Gallipoli, we are considering a return again tonight!"
