Come here for creative panini, such as sgrombri e carciofini sott'olio (mackerel and marinated baby artichokes), and an ever-changing list of significant wines by the glass. They also have a well-stocked collection of bottles to go.

Hidden away between tacky leather boutiques along the St Lorenzo street market, Gianni Migliorini's wine bar has one of the best selections of Tuscan vintages in town. Many are sold by the glass and accompanied by an irresistible selection of hams, sausages, cheeses, anchovies and sardines, while a whole roast suckling pig sits on a marble slab, ready to be sliced up for a delicious porchetta sandwich. The place is jam-packed all day, and apart from the rickety wooden bench on the pavement, everyone squeezes inside and eats their gourmet panino, bruschetta or salad standing up.

In the district of St. Lorenzo close to the Central Markets, you’ll find one of the best paninis in town — how does pomodoro di pachino (a tomato from Sicily), oregano, capers, and burrata cheese sound?. Choose from a top wine list from the top three Italian Bs: Barolo, Barbaresco and Brunello from small boutique wineries all over Italy. You can even pop into Casa del vino for an apéritif before dinner for a taste of local crostini with seasonal toppings such as chicken liver pate, grilled vegetables, and local pecorino cheese with a drizzle of honey.

Other places to get a decent panini are Bomô Chinese bao buns sandwiches (they have a tigella type panino Sasha on her blog explains better than I could), most alimentari (deli) especially Alimentari Uffizi (just ask for a panini with any of the meats, cheeses and marinated vegetables you see in the deli case- build your own and it’s so fresh!) Antico Forno Giglio (bakery with just a couple sandwiches already made with their house-made bread) in Via Gioberti, also Casa del Vino in San Lorenzo with natural wines to pair.

For an extremely local feel and some amazing panini sandwiches, Casa del Vino takes pride in offering local prices and great wine. The staff will help you choose some great choices when you are unsure about which types of wines would be best for the evening, and you shouldn't leave without sampling some of the meats and cheeses they have. You can find a cheap but good glass of wine here--don't be afraid to try a new kind or something that is suggested to you from the well-taught and knowing staff.

With a name like House of Wine, there’s no denying that this place is by far one of the best wine bars in Florence. While this quaint bar near the Central Markets carries a variety of delicious fare, they specialise in the famous Italian Bs: Barolo, Barbaresco and Brunello. Though it’s actually one of our favorite wine bars in Florence, Casa del Vino (Via dell’Ariento, 16r) happens to also make great panini. If you happen to be wandering towards the station or through the Central Market, hop in here for a very affordable glass of fine wine and a delicious panino. Here they have a ready-set menu for you to choose from—we say try out the sausage and stracchino cheese option, which is one of the best!

If I’m not far from the train station, I sneak into Casa del Vino (Via del Ariento 16r). Their sausage and stracchino panino is something I dream of regularly. And whenever I can, if I’m in the area of Campo di Marte, the outskirts, not far from the train station or the football stadium, I go straight to place that I’m quite positive is the actual best panino in the city — Caffe Dogali (Viale Malta 5r).

La Casa del Vino is one of Florence’s oldest enoteche to taste wines located in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. The vibe is casual, marked by a wooden interior. Run by a Florentine family, this wine bar is a good place to come for a wide selection but not the best place if you are looking for an intimate and curated experience with staff who are going to spend a lot of time with you.

We had to check out this enoteca because of the tourist reviews on TripAdvisor: They weren’t great. Many of the people were complaining that the owner wouldn’t speak to them in English so they took their businesses elsewhere. We walked in and immediately knew this would be the place for us.

Beautifully furnished with wooden panelling and Carrara marble, it’s an incredibly evocative space with a vast array of local wines. But what excited me most was the food. The tiny preparation area was brimming with anchovies, roasted vegetables, simple stews, crostini and salads.

Casa del Vino is situated close to the central market and is a classic old-style enoteca (wine bar), all polished wood and Chianti tipples. Choose from a selection of panini or get a plate of snacks to allow you to try more than one glass of excellent plonk.

As is tradition in Italy, one never drinks without eating something. Casa del Vino is my favorite stop near my house for a glass of wine and a nibble. Not only my favorite place as you’ll see if you come around lunch time when it is packed with locals.
