Reviews Summary

Brac is celebrated for its unique atmosphere, blending a bookshop with a quality vegetarian and vegan dining experience. Diners rave about the flavorful and creative dishes, especially the 'piatto unico,' which offers great value. While the food and ambiance are consistently praised, some reviews mention that service can occasionally be slow.

"A delicious vegan Dinner… YES PLEASE! Everything was amazing and everything was very flavorful.
Our group ordered the Seitan, Tempeh, Pasta and Tortellini. All very unique dishes and very yummy.
Grabbed dessert (chocolate muffins: apricot & strawberry) when we went to pay the bill.
Went back to eat lunch the following day but were told the kitchen is closed."

"Quality vegetarian food. Excellent atmosphere and first rate service.

I didn’t have a reservation and this is a popular place, but showed up as they opened and easily snagged a spot.

Family and solo dining friendly. Nothing better than dining surrounded by wine, good food and cookbooks!

Would highly recommend going to this beautiful place for vegetarian dining!"

"Awesome food.

Came in a little late around 15:00 and the kitchen was closed but they asked me if I really wanted some veggie pasta.

They made the most awesome fresh pasta I had in Florence !!.

Also there was a birthday the same day and they so they also offered me a free slice of chocolate and apricot cake and that too was super delicious.

The staff the food and the vibe of the place just made day :)"

The 22 Best Restaurants In Florence - Florence

When it comes to restaurants in Florence, nobody is doing the kind of quality vegan and vegetarian dishes that you'll find at Libreria Brac, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it spot on a small street close to the Arno River. Not to mention also operating as a space that has books, good coffee, and interesting wine. The menu changes frequently, but you’ll always find seasonal pastas, variations on lasagna, salads, and vegan options that pack a punch—their homemade seitan is an explosion of cumin, cloves, coriander, and kombu seaweed.

This is one of my favorite places to bring people because its super hidden but very central, they have great—and affordable wine, a nice aperitivo option and good food. I highly recommend asking for their well-priced ‘piatto unico’ which is not only a steal, but also offers three different tasting options for those who want to enjoy vegan and vegetarian gourmet Italian cuisine. Reservations are recommended and the service can be a bit slow but just having a glass of wine in that courtyard is pretty awesome!

The family restaurant, Brac, is a library, cafe, and restaurant only four minutes from Palazzo Vecchio, making it an ideal spot for tourists, locals, and students alike. Despite its convenient location, bookings at Brac for large groups are tricky, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. However, they offer a vegan menu and use organic vegetables, making it an attractive option for those looking for healthy, plant-based options.

This is the sister restaurant to Santarosa, which you’ll be reading about shortly and is a book shop come restaurant. It’s tucked away behind the Hotel Balestri and combines an indoor restaurant with outdoor space with counter style bar dining at the front of the restaurant. Sweet fairy lights add to the atmosphere and for book lovers like myself it’s an utter Aladdin’s cave but the food has got to be the main star of the show.
