"Called for a reservation and lucked out! The cheese focaccia with the cured meat was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I’ve never had anything like it before and I know I’ll be thinking about it for a long time
The restaurant felt homey and the food was delicious. Everyone was very kind and one of the ladies even took the time to explain the menu."

"Greetings fellow travelers. Stop reading this review and come here right away for lunch or dinner. This establishment gets packed out quickly, so arrive early. The menu changes daily. The selection is always inviting. Order your heart's content. You will be surprised how fabulous it is. I tried their house wine, both the red and the white none disappointed, In fact it exceeded my expectations. The cuisine here is local and with local ingredients. Take note of their polenta. It is like nothing you've ever had before outside this area. I had to purchase several packages to take home. They also sell wine and other provisions at this trattoria. When I come back to Como this is the first place I will come to eat. The owner, Paola and her staff treat you with a warm welcome and serve you like your family. Praise is all I have for this trattoria."

"I really loved this place! The staff is genuinely sweet, welcoming, and makes you feel right at home. One of the things I appreciated most is that their menu changes daily, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
But the best part is — it truly surprises you in the best way possible. Every dish we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. It’s one of those places that leaves you with a warm, happy feeling.
Totally worth trying — I’d highly recommend it if you’re in the area!"

Best Places To Stay And Eat In Como, Italy
In Como one of the best trattorias is Osteria Gallo (Via Vitani 16; 031-272-591) has been in the di Toma family for 37 years, so they’ve had plenty of time to perfect the traditional food they cook to an always-packed house. Their motto is “Good taste and originality.” Located near the Cathedral of Santa Maria, Osteria Gallo (gallo means rooster, and the motif of fowl is carried through the decor), with three rooms, is very cozy—you have to move the chairs to let people by—and the food comes out apace. The owner will relate the day’s menu of four or five dishes to you (his English is almost non-existent, but order anything he suggests and you’ll be happy).
1 Day in Como City, Lake Como - Where to Eat and Explore | Indulgent Eats
Cozy and warm restaurant with wine bottles across the walls and a brick arch with a limited, daily menu. We sat in their intimate two table courtyard and enjoyed their delicious eggplant parmigiana and trofie al pesto as our primi—the fresh tofie pasta was especially chewy and al dente. This spot was much more affordable than other sit-down restaurants we saw, with both of our dishes totaling 22 euro.

Traditional valley cuisine dominates winter menus with fortifying dishes like polenta and meat stews reflecting Como’s northern position. At Osteria del Gallo, owners Giuseppe and Rosanna De Toma take pride in serving hyper-local products including rustic stoneground cornmeal, luscious wildflower honey and paper-thin slices of Valtellina Bresaola, air-dried beef.
Where to eat and drink in Como
This storied eatery in Como’s centre was once a literary haunt. Today, it serves down-home cooking with a seasonal menu that uses fresh local ingredients. The warm, old-style osteria also sells wines, amaro herbal liqueurs from the Como area (try one called Piz) and regional deli products (sample some Valchiavenna bresaola or local cheeses).
