Reviews Summary

Trattoria Aldo is praised for its authentic Sicilian home-style cooking and the generous antipasti buffet, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere. Diners often compliment the friendly service and the value for money. However, some reviews mention that certain dishes can be bland, and one reviewer had a negative experience with portion size and service attitude, suggesting a possible inconsistency.

"Great place with homemade food! Very nice and cozy, I felt here like I visit my grandparents. And they have risotto! It’s very rare for Catania"

Maria Serdiuk

"For a truly local dining experience, Trattoria Aldo is a must. Tucked away just behind the open market, this family-run trattoria offers authentic, home-style cooking in a warm and unpretentious setting.

As you enjoy your meal, you’ll likely find yourself surrounded by locals — a sure sign that this place is the real deal. It’s exactly the kind of spot that gives you a genuine taste of the city’s culinary culture."

serhan mete

"I was initially attracted by the local atmosphere of this Sicilian restaurant, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Despite the seemingly affordable prices, it’s not worth it at all. The food we were served was overcooked and lacked flavor, but the worst part was the tiramisu—it was ridiculously tiny ( the blue-marked part in the photo is where we already took a bite). Worse, It tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for far too long.

Their overall attitude in various aspects, trying to take advantage of tourists, made the entire experience very uncomfortable."

Where to eat Pasta alla Norma in Catania. The 7 best restaurants chosen by Gambero Rosso

Inside the historic market "Fera ‘o Luni," which despite the name (luni means Monday) is held every weekday, on the first floor of an old building, is a family-run establishment dating back to 1961. Frequented by a diverse clientele, it offers refreshment only at lunchtime. Crossing the threshold, one gets the feeling that time has stopped, either because of the furnishings largely unchanged since the sixties or because of the menu, unconcerned with trends.

20 Of The Best Restaurants In Catania Sicily For Pasta, Pizza And More

Eating off the beaten path at restaurants only locals frequent is one of the most exciting aspects of traveling local. We had spotted Trattoria Aldo while shopping at our regular Fiera di Catania farmers market. While the restaurant is located on the second floor, the daily specials are listed on a chalkboard on the street level.
