Ask for an outside table under the canopy at this charming—and always bustling—bistro, located down a pedestrian-only path in the heart of the historic district. Here, you'll find a mix of the Catanese standards (eggplant parmigiana, meatballs cooked in lemon leaves, caponata) as well as a rotation of riffs on typical Italian dishes (such as lasagna, sometimes served with radicchio, gorgonzola, and walnuts). The daily menu is hand-scrawled on a chalkboard and the wine list champions female producers.

I tavolini all’aperto e lo spazio interno rievocano un’atmosfera da bistrot e la posizione a pochi passi dalla centralissima via Etnea rende il locale un ritrovo per i catanesi e per i turisti di passaggio. Frequentato principalmente per l’aperitivo, è apprezzato anche per pranzare sotto gli alberi e gli ombrelloni godendo del buon clima tutto l’anno, salvo eccezioni. Fra le comande le richieste più frequenti sono vino al calice & mixology: con una spesa a partire da 6/7 € si può scegliere un buon cocktail o optare per una bollicina dell’Etna, ben rappresentata fra fermi e mossi.

The old town centre has a wide variety of bars where you can enjoy a traditional Aperitivo, such as the Enoteca Sud Est, a lovely wine bar which offers a selection of local wines and delicacies; the Razmataz, an other delightful wine bar; the Stag’s Head is a typical pub with a good selection of homemade beers; the Enola Jazz Club is a famous venue where you can attend Italian and international Jazz concerts. In addition for the disco lovers, the Red Light provides good techno and retro hits music selections.

This is the place our HomeAway host recommended, when I asked where locals eat for lunch. Wines by the glass, draught and bottled beer and an ample cocktail list are offered at this dreamy wine bar, with tables invitingly spread out across the tree-shaded flagstones of a quaint backstreet square. It doubles as a café in the morning, but really gets packed with locals from aperitivo time onward.

The Razmataz more than a pub is a wine bar with retro charmbut we recommend it because it is one of the most popular stops in Catania's movida. This place is perfect for those who enjoy sipping a good glass of wine in a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere. I outdoor tables make it an ideal place to spend a quiet evening, perhaps accompanied by a platter of local cured meats and cheeses.

Razmataz – Right off via Etnea in Catania’s historic center, this hip wine bar con cucina is where the coolest demographic of Catanese hang out. It’s casual and cozy, and the tight menu, which changes often, offers a selection of dishes from Catania as well as the rest of Italy and the world. The wine list is, of course, excellent, featuring local and emerging Sicilian wineries.

Razmataz Wine Bar in Catania is the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious aperitif with friends or loved ones. Located in the heart of the city, the bar boasts a trendy atmosphere that is perfect for socializing. The bar specializes in a wide selection of local and international wines, paired with delicious and unique appetizers made from locally sourced ingredients.

The real party kicks off at the wine bar Razmataz, located on a side street off the pedestrian street. In the small street, there are several other small bars, and the somewhat quieter area is only a prelude to what’s ahead. After a good glass of wine, you can head further up towards Black Cocktail Beer Bar.

I also highly recommend Razmataz Wine Bar for dinner and drinks—we had the loveliest experience here, the service was incredible and the vibes were great. I can also recommend Me Cumpari Turiddu, where Stanley Tucci ate when he was in town, although I preferred Razmataz to be honest.

You’ll be able to walk the streets of Catania and find numerous aperitivo offerings, but we enjoyed two different aperitivos, one on Cru Enoteca outdoor patio and the other within a quaint outdoor square at the famed Razmataz wine bar, complete with ambient live music.

Wine, beer and cocktails are all served in the beautiful outdoor square of this evening venue. This one is the ultimate place to be for an aperitivo and onwards. Several food options are always available and vary daily (these are listed on the board).
