"I went there with a lot of expectations but I was sorely disappointed. After a long walk and a growling stomach, we decided to visit Menarita after checking the reviews. The reviews seemed legitimate and it was close to my hotel as well. We ordered two very simple dishes, Spaghetti and Gnocchi, without any fancy add-ons. The food arrived 20-25 minutes after ordering. The mannerism or body language of the waitress didn't seem positive at all, either she wasn't very happy to serve us or maybe she was tired as hell. The gnocchi was fresh but the sauce was a big let down. It was as if the cook just added lots of canned tomatoes and chunks of mozzarella to the gnocchi. The spaghetti was an even bigger letdown. There wasn't any garlic or salt(not at all) and the pasta wasn't cooked al-dente. We tried to be polite and didn't ask for salt initially but the going got tough and I was compelled to request for salt. After a while, we decided to call it a day and quit the dinner halfway through. We paid the bill, tipped the waitress and vowed "never again". This place looked like a mom n pop store run by family members and serviced by siblings. The place is good and the seating is decent. Prices are also normal but the food is anything but normal."

My husband had the mixed fried seafood, and I had the prawn cocktail for starter. Both were nice.
For the main, my husband had the seafood spaghetti, and I opted for the carbonara. Never had a carbonara like it. It looked and tasted like bacon on top and not guanciale mixed into it as normal. It wasn't as creamy as I expected, and it was covered in pepper, which made it inedible for me as I don't like pepper. I've never eaten anywhere where the pepper is added and not offered as an option. Maybe it's a regional thing, but it totally ruined the meal."

We work hard for 48 weeks a year, our holidays are so important to us and to enjoy local cuisine while away from home. This restaurant for us was below average, to a point at being a potential health risk if we had eaten food served, we had issues with our food and when this was explained we was basically thrown out. The pasta dish was fine for our son but the prawns from the grilled fish dinner were off, we understand mistake can be made and obviously in a foreign country it’s hard to explain , Unfortunately this ended with very aggressive behaviour and threatening attitude.A bad experience but fortunately our only one on our 18 land cruise around southern Italy .
