"(Translated by Google) There are many places and activities located close to Vesuvius. Casa Maryà is one of these. The venue is elegant, very large and equipped with both internal and external seats. The first thing that strikes you is the view that can be admired from some terraces. The internal space is well-kept and well-furnished. The external one, however, I found decidedly less inviting, but this is probably due to the fact that the summer season has not officially started yet.
Having been there for lunch on Sunday, the only option was the fixed sea or land menu for 35 euros, consisting of a starter, two tastings of first courses, second courses, fruit and coffee. And I already say that, honestly, I wouldn't take it again. The quantity and quality ratio works against them. Octopus and potato appetizer with seaweed pancake and omelette pie. Pleasant, but without the "Wow!" effect. I found the fish first courses (gnocchi with salmon and squid ink rice) not very elaborate and almost flavourless. The second course is better, the baked sea bream with 3 courgette chips. They could have been more generous.
But the thing that I really found shocking was the wait. We arrived at 1pm and finished lunch at 6.15pm. There was a wait of around two hours between the appetizer and the first courses, justified by the fact that - and I quote - "you have to wait for the dishes of the other tables to come out too, to optimize kitchen times".
I understand that eating out is an opportunity to socialize and pass the time, but you can't turn a lunch into a kidnapping.
Maybe on less crowded occasions and with the possibility of ordering à la carte the situation improves, but from what I saw yesterday I don't feel like recommending it
