Reviews Summary

Da Cesari is a highly recommended, family-run trattoria renowned for its authentic Bolognese cuisine, particularly its handmade pastas. Diners rave about the warm, welcoming atmosphere and the quality of the ingredients, though some mention the pasta can be on the salty side. The service is generally praised for its friendliness and attentiveness, especially from staff members like Riccardo and Adrian.

"Would highly recommend this very traditional bologna restaurant! All of the food we ordered was delicious! The ravioli was some of the best I’ve had - it was packed with flavor! The dessert sampler, while good, was a bit disappointing as our ice cream was melted. The waiter was super helpful on recommending wine to go with our meal as well. Reservations definitely recommended! You have to call to make a reservation. If you are visiting Bologna this restaurant is a must!"

Alexis Annitto

"Delicious pasta but on the salty side. If you’re looking to try authentic bolognese, this is one of the best places! They do not skimp on the beef sauce. The gnocchi in beef broth was also very flavorful and the soup as well was very tasty. Would recommend the truffle ravioli too they gave so much truffle. The service was on the interesting side… the waiter was a bit rude and neglecting not sure if he was trying to be funny? Didn’t come off very polite."

Michelle Lin

"Met up with our son and daughter in-law in Bologna. We picked this place without any reservation. We are the lucky one as the group behind us was turned down. Do make a reservation if you plan to come here. The food, simply excellent. Wine selection is also great. We had a wonderful dinner experience."

Host Paolino Cesari has been presiding over his eatery since 1962, and he and his staff go out of their way to make you feel at home. The food's terrific, and if you love pork products, try anything on the menu with mora romagnola: Paolino has direct contact with the people who raise this breed that nearly became extinct (he calls it "my pig"). The highly flavorful meat makes divine salame, among other things.

An Italian Local Picked 15 Restaurants In Bologna You Should Know About

A restaurant that has been around for almost 70 years and is still going strong is definitely worthy of inclusion in this list, not just for its reputation, but also for the quality of the food. This comprises classical Bolognese dishes like tagliatelle al ragu or pasta and meat dishes embellished with sophisticated touches like shaved truffles. The wine list is dominated by equally local and classical wines, but what sets it apart from those of other restaurants is that many of the bottles come courtesy of the family cellar, which is run by Da Cesare's owner's brother, Umberto Cesari, who is especially known for his Sangiovese wines.
