Bar il Molo is one of the most picturesque cafes in Lake Como. The cute white tables in front of a flowered archway and the colored houses of Varenna make for a postcard-worthy photo. It would be lovely to visit here during sunset for a drink but since you’re only here for a day, there may not be time.

Lying on Lake Como’s eastern shore, Lido di Varenna Beach is a part of the Olivedo Lido Bar and Restaurant. It’s a beautiful little stretch of sand with outstanding swimming and sunbathing opportunities. Hiring a sunbed only costs €10, and you’ll be able to use the facilities as you wish.

Being lake facing, I was expecting Bar Il Molo to be expensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw some of the main meals were actually less than €10!. The views of the lake are absolutely stunning and you can just relax with a wine, beer or, in my case, a Aperol Spritz!

Located on the Varenna town side (you will need to take the ferry to get here if you’re in Menaggio or Belliago). Il Bar Molo is a total instaworthy spot, and we’re sure you’ve seen pictures online. Cue the bright yellow seat cushions and iconic lake views!

After our gelato, we continued walking back in the direction we originally came from and made our way to one of the waterfront restaurants, Bar Il Molo. The patio nearer to the lake was full, but we managed to snag the last table across the pathway.

On Wednesday (when Bar il Molo was closed) we ate the Nilus Bar next-door. It is in a romantic setting perched over the water's edge. You can hear the waves lapping against the shoreline and watch the swans and ducks as you eat.

Bar il Molo is a picture-perfect restaurant right on the harbor. Unfortunately, you can’t make a reservation, but that also means you will be taking a chance to get one of the four tables with the picture-perfect view you want.

_--Bar Il Molo: Didn't want a big meal so we got a pizza, which was the best one we had in Italy. The views of the lake with the band playing was a perfect ending in this idyllic village.

Bar Il Molo probably has one of the best views you will find in Varenna and of Lake Como. A cheaper alternative, but just as wonderful, is Il Caminetto. (Original) $569,900.

The pizzas from Bar Il Molo on the lakefront at Varenna are great – I had a vegetable pizza and it was one of the best I’ve ever had.
