What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Ristorante il Vicoletto is celebrated for its creative Italian cuisine with a modern twist and its cozy, welcoming ambiance. Diners often rave about the unique dishes, especially the pasta and truffle creations, and the excellent wine selection. However, some guests have encountered inconsistencies in food quality and service, with occasional mentions of overcooked dishes or less-than-fair portion sizes.
"We searched out this discrete little restaurant and are very glad we did. It's down a little lane and may look closed, but try the door. We had the Lamb with herbs on velvety potato and the Sea Bream on fava beans and salted ricotta with some excellent house wines. Both dishes were really tasty and better than they look in the photos. Go for the food, not the views."

"They must change the chef. The food is well below our standards, which is not very high. I am not a food critic and I am not a picky eater. The first course is the Octopus which is good. We enjoy it very much. When the main courses came, it is disappointing one after the other one. The pawn is tasteless and textured is soft and 100% not fresh. The sea base is so overcooked that even a cardboard might be softer than it. The steak is the second worst. It is medium rare, so it should be cut easy. But no. It cannot be cut though, a big piece of tender was still attached with the meat. The meat is tasteless. The waiter ask how is the food and we told him the fish is way overcooked. He took it out from the bill. Thank you for doing it. He is the only waiter for 6 tables. He is very nice and food. He took care of everyone With ease. Even have time to have small talks with some table in Italian. The resturant has good atmosphere. We wish that the food is better"

"Hidden Down a tiny alley one finds this gem… Il Vicoletto. The ambiance was welcoming and friendly. The home made bread so attractive and super tasty. A meal in top 3, we’ve had on our 43 day journey. Tagliata di vitello on a bed of the sweetest figs, a delicate Gorgonzola sauce and topped with shaved truffles. All paired with wines recommended by the owner. We savoured ever morsel and didn’t want the meal to finish .. it deserves 10 stars."

This rec came from another family operated restaurant that was full the night I asked about a table. (I looked for it for a while and couldn't find it before I got so hungry I had to eat somewhere close) The rec was echoed by my hosts, but alas, I ran out of time in Assisi to try it.
