Pronto is a veritable institution in Tel Aviv and with good reason. One of the first trattorias in Tel Aviv, it’s headed by chef David Frankel, who has a reputation for creativity in his work…and the entire dining experience here perfectly combines formality. His desire to be innovative (reflected in the modern design) and yet traditional (using simple ingredients, that change with the season) is what makes this dining experience so wonderful.

18While the late food writer and gourmand Dr. Eli Landau (who studied medicine in Italy) was probably the most influential spokesman of this trend, the classic culinary example is Tel-Aviv’s Pronto: Ristorante Italiano. Film maker Rafi Adar, who studied cinematography in Rome, opened it in 1988 so as to fulfill his dream of “setting up a little corner of Italy,” where he would serve Italian/Roman food.

The meals was extraordinarily top quality, and the flavors had been very delicate and scrumptious. We had been planning to pay for our meal, however David is aware of the chef very effectively, and Chef David wouldn’t enable us to pay.

Chef David Frankel serves a mix of Italian and Israeli Mediterranean dishes at his Pronto Restaurant in Tel Aviv. The food is very delicate and for me the flavors were very subtle but came through. What I ordered: The oxtail cappelletti was awesome, and I also enjoyed the local seared fish.
