Definitely by locals for locals (as in Hebrew-only menu), a very casual place to sample some solid Israeli food. We had a potato salad served in a paper bag (simple and great), a bread salad (tomatoes, onions, toasted bread, cucumber, parsley, loads of lemon – super refreshing), some super tasty fresh livers with tahini and grilled spring onions (heavy duty stuff). Finished with a marinated herring, which was delicious, but quite oily, salty, heavy, oniony & fishy, so not for everyone!

If you want to grab a drink with some locals, head on over to Port Sa’id. This trendy gastro bar is located in the thick of Rothschild Boulevard. You’ll know you are in the right place if people are literally pouring out of the building, sitting on the sidewalk with their drinks or sharing tables on the front patio.

The first and the latter belong to one owner, and the one in the middle is quite on the same level of quality and menu range. I wouldn’t say that the cuisine was extraordinary, but it was on a good level. I recommend ordering two plates in order to satisfy the physical hunger and hunger for the new taste :)

Port Sa’id: Same chef as Miznon and probably his most popular and by far my favorite place to eat in Tel Aviv. This is THE #1 spot I tell any visitor to go to when traveling to Tel Aviv. The food, drinks and vibe are always perfect and it is in a fun, trendy area by the Great Synagogue on Allenby.

My husband and I flew back to Tel Aviv JUST so that we could eat at Port Sa’id again (it’s THAT good). The hipster atmosphere, the simple and always-changing menu, the buzzy vibe – all of it is amazing and seriously screams Tel Aviv!. There’s almost always a wait (no reservations) but worth it.

The Brothers Ha’achim – Travelers will find that the menu centers on traditional Israeli dishes cooked on a charcoal grill. Diners with a big appetite can treat themselves in the restaurant’s all-you-can-eat brunch on Fridays.
