Reviews Summary

North Abraxas by Eyal Shani offers a vibrant dining experience with creative dishes and a lively atmosphere, especially around the open kitchen. While many praise the unique presentation, flavorful food like lamb kebab and chopped liver bruschetta, and engaging staff, some find the portions small and the prices high. Noise levels can also be a concern for some diners.

"Fun place. Arrived only at 22:45, caught a place at the bar. Great vibe. All staff just sparkle a good vibe. The food options are delicious ... so many different things, lots of veggie options, but also carnivores and water-lovers get a great selection.

Always again!"

"Our dinner with friends was fantastic. We ordered several dishes for the table, and the waiter informed us that the food would arrive as it became ready, allowing us to enjoy a flavorful journey by combining plates. Chef Eyal Shani's unique take on dining, where food is served on parchment and cardstock plates, wasn't my preferred method of dining, but it contributed to the relaxed atmosphere of the city and its guests. You can request plates for the table to enjoy the shared dishes. The standout dishes were the lamb kebab and chopped liver bruschetta. I highly recommend trying the premium menu."

Christian Rhea

"The atmosphere is nice. We sat inside at the bar. Okay food - nothing special. Small portions, “tel-avivian” style of throwing stuff on a plate in a weird way - voila, you have a chefs dish. And an extremely talkative (in a bad way) girl serving at a bar."

The best restaurants in Tel Aviv to try right now

If you seek a standout primer on Tel Avivian dining culture – vegetable-focused, unfussy and with an occasionally exuberant atmosphere – then city centre-based North Abraxas should be one of your first stops. Here, celebrity-chef Eyal Shani dismisses the formalities of tablecloths and chinaware in favour of dishes like whole roasted baby cauliflower (which spawned a global trend), chicken liver pita and ‘burnt’ potato with crème fraîche presented on cardboard and paper bags. There are outdoor tables, but the countertop seats are the best vantage points from which to view the busy kitchen and interact with the convivial staff.
