What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Butcher Grill consistently receives rave reviews for its exceptional food quality, particularly its steaks, and its attentive, friendly service. Diners praise the overall dining experience, ambiance, and value. However, some have noted that certain popular items, like fillet steak, can run out, and one reviewer found the ribs slightly overcooked.
"To be honest this is a must eat place. From start to finish. The team are so friendly and attentive nothing is to small. We tipped €25.00 cash that's how good it was. The food is perfect, honestly I'm a harsh critic but I couldn't fault anything. 10 out of 10. The starters are perfect sizes we had a share platter and shared a dessert. The flavours, presentation, ambiance just everything is honestly perfect. They have a delightful array of cocktails, we had just one each and all I can say is get here as soon as you can. We will be back again and again. A birthday made very special. 🥰"

"Came here for date night and it was fantastic. We didn't drink wine because we were driving and found it to be great value in this sense. I would highly recommend and plan to eat here again.
Service from all was exceptional. I saved scraps as a treat for my Irish Wolfhound, and they came out with lots more and a few tomahawk bones which was greatly appreciated.
Great vibes and great experience!"
John Hannin
"Five star meal with a five star service! Enjoyed an evening with some great colleagues and was fortunate to get a booking in this amazing restaurant. Food was great - from starters through till dessert. The day ended with a card payment issue though as their machines were playing up. Came back an hour later to settle the bill. Comes recommended."

Restaurant review: Brioche Restaurant, Dublin 6
I’ve written recently about the flight to the suburbs by chefs seeking their own space and Ranelagh was arguably where it all began — John Farrell of Luna has two restaurants here (Butcher Grill and Dillingers), there are cool coffee shops and brunch spots (TriBeCa, Cinnamon), there is the excellent Kinara Kitchen, Pinochio if you want Italian, La Bodega if you want Spanish, La Réserve if you want French, Michie Sushi if you want Japanese, there’s a Diep, an Itsa, a Marios, a Milano, and there is even a good Swiss restaurant called Edelwise that serves chicken cordon-bleu and a choice of fondue (I’m not making this up!).

Where To Eat Meat In Dublin
From the same stable as Dillinger’s and 777, The Butcher Grill in Ranelagh does exactly what it says on the tin, with Tom Doorley describing a recent meal there as “marvellous” in his Irish Daily Mail review at the weekend. Sunday lunch at €19 per person is great value, but it does include the unusual addition of smoky beans. The wine list is pretty decent, which is good because you’ll need something to wash down that €90 24oz Chateaubriand for two.
The New Exchequer Bar in Ranelagh, by Caroline Byrne
With Dillinger’s for top notch American style dining, Michie Sushi for the only show in town sushi-wise, Kinara Kitchen for the best casual Indian and Pakistani cooking you’ll find, The Butcher Grill for meat feasts, La Bodega for authentic tapas, Redmond’s for wine and beer, and Pinocchio for Italian wine and grazing at its most laid-back – can’t help feeling a little bitter about this Dublin 6 food haven becoming more haven-ey.
