Reviews Summary

Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud consistently earns praise for its exceptional fine dining, with many reviewers calling it the best meal of their lives. The artistic presentation, fresh ingredients, and impeccable service are frequently highlighted as standout aspects. However, a few diners have noted that certain dishes, particularly desserts, did not meet the high standards of the rest of the meal, and there were isolated incidents of inconsistent service.

"By far the best food and service I have ever had in my entire life. Every dish was a culinary delight 11/10. Unbelievably good and well worth the money. I think this is my favorite restaurant I've ever been too. Will definitely be back. I couldn't recommend enough. Brilliant. Just Brilliant!"

Amanda Bobyk

"Everything was WONDERFUL. 2-star Michelin recognition definitely deserved!
- Food was DELICIOUS and ELABORATED: amuse-bouches, starters, fish dishes, meat dishes, desserts and final petit fours with our Irish Coffee. Everyone in our party of 6 was delighted (including the most picky eaters).
- Service was PROFESSIONAL, FRIENDLY and KNOWLEDGEABLE. The restaurant manager greeted us when we arrived, made sure all our needs were met throughout the evening, and personally bid us good-bye, even posing with us on the porch for a picture. The entire staff was perfect as well: coordinated, discrete, they ensured we had a memorable time.
- Atmosphere was great as well. They invited us to sit in the comfortable cocktail lounge where we studied the menu while enjoying our drinks. In the restaurant, our group sat at a round table perfect for our party size located in a cozy corner, where we were able to have conversations in a private manner."

"Fine dining at its absolute best! I’m a huge foodie and have been to quite a few Michelin restaurants. I’ve had this place on my radar for years and finally got to experience it while visiting Ireland. Of course, the food is delicious and the quality of service and the atmosphere and ambience is one of a kind. The staff are all top notch and I must give a special shout out to Diego who was absolutely wonderful and made my wife and I feel so special. They truly elevate the experience to a whole new level of art. A lovely man sat down next to us and asked us how our experience was and my wife said “Oh it’s lovely, are you the manager?” And he said “I’m Patrick Guilbaud.” He was so humble and warm and welcoming and chatted with us and took photos too so that was a perfect cherry on top. Worth every penny ten times over! 🍽️ 😋 ❤️"

Restaurants in Dublin

Also known as "Dublin's finest restaurant," this Michelin-starred place on the ground floor of the Merrion Hotel boasts a menu described as French, but chef Guillaume Lebrun's genius lies in his occasional daring use of traditional Irish ingredients—so often taken for granted—to create the unexpected. The ambience is just as delicious, if you're into lofty, minimalist dining rooms and Irish modern art (the Roderic O'Conors and Louis le Brocquys are all from the owner's private collection). The best dishes are flawless, such as the roast red leg partridge.

Adventures on Dublin’s Culinary Trail

There has long been a small number of globally lauded Dublin restaurants — like Chapter One and Patrick Guilbaud — but in recent years, younger generations of Irish chefs and restaurateurs, many of whom left home and worked abroad, or at least outside Dublin, then returned, have been flourishing in the capital. Some talented foreign chefs have also made Dublin their home. These days, there’s a fine range of sophisticated, even surprising, Dublin food to complement all that Guinness, poitín (a traditional distilled spirit) and whiskey.

The Best Restaurants in Dublin

Without doubt the most celebrated restaurant in all of Ireland, Patrick Guilbaud has been a Dublin institution for over 40 years. For the greater part of this time, ‘home’ has been The Merrion hotel, an oasis of calm in the heart of the city and the recipient of Two MICHELIN Keys. With trusted disciples of Guilbaud both in the kitchen and front of house, the level of consistency over the decades has been magnificent.

The complete guide

This iconic Irish restaurant celebrated 40 years in 2021 and, while a large part of its success is down to the eponymous chef himself – who has certainly earned his place in Irish culinary history – it is also due to the team Patrick Guilbaud has built around him over the years, each of whom elegantly plays their part in creating an extra special experience for each and every guest. The restaurant is hidden within a Georgian townhouse, and oozes sumptuousness and sophistication thanks to features such as a gilt barrel ceiling and hand-crafted marquetry. The accomplished cooking remains French at heart yet has evolved to show a restrained modernity and some bold yet superbly balanced flavours. Dishes showcase luxury Irish ingredients and the wine cellar and wine list are works of art." restaurantpatrickguilbaud.ie
