What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mister S is celebrated for its exceptional wood-fired cooking, particularly its meats and the unique burnt end rendang spring rolls. Diners praise the bold flavors, tender textures, and the value for money, often calling it a top restaurant in Dublin. While most experiences are overwhelmingly positive, a few have noted occasional issues with dish execution or ambiance, though the overall sentiment remains highly favorable.
"So good, I visited again as soon as humanly possible.
Honestly, there aren't many places that blow your socks off with every bite of food, every interaction with a member of staff, every delicious smell wafting from the kitchen - but this is one of them.
We visited one evening and shared a couple of starters, mains and a dessert and everything blew us away.
Some special mentions were the rendang spring rolls, which had so much flavour packed in I can't believe they weren't enormous and the pork chop, which was the best pork I've ever eaten, tender, juice and full of flavour. Absolutely incredible.
We spoke to the table next to us who said the steak was phenomenal so after our experience was so good we had to go back.
A couple of weeks later we booked the Friday lunch time special (wagyu flank steak) and it was honestly unbelievable. Without a doubt one of the best meals we've had in Dublin. The price was also really good - especially considering the quality of the food.
Overall the restaurant isn't expensive (when compared to a lot of restaurants in Dublin). It is very well priced for how good it is.
The staff were also lovely and were happy to have a quick chat while helping you with your order.
The restaurant is perfect for a date night or a small get together with some friends.
I highly recommend it. Easily in my top restaurants in Dublin and will not disappoint.
Please book in advance to avoid missing out."

"Had an incredible meal at Mister S in Dublin. From start to finish, everything was spot on.
We started with the burrata and burnt end spring rolls — both were excellent, with the spring rolls being a real standout. For mains, I had the braised beef ribs, which were perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor, while my partner had the cod, which was equally delicious. The sides of potatoes and smoky broccoli were simple but done so well that they really elevated the meal.
To finish, we shared the panna cotta, which was smooth, light, and the perfect ending to a hearty dinner.
What really impressed me was not just the quality of the food, but the value — portions were generous, flavors were bold (you can really taste the smokiness from the wood fire), and for Dublin standards it felt very reasonably priced.
Would absolutely recommend Mister S to anyone looking for a relaxed spot with top-class food. I’ll definitely be back!"

"My partner made a reservation at Mister S back in January as a surprise for my birthday, and we were both really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt a bit overwhelming—there were a lot of people speaking very loudly, and the tables were quite small. We completely understand that the venue is limited in size, but having worked in hospitality for over six years, I also know how much of a difference layout and ambiance can make to a guest’s experience.
To start, we ordered a Pornstar Martini and a glass of white wine. Sadly, the cocktail was unbalanced, with too much lime and prosecco. For starters, I had the octopus, which I really enjoyed, while my partner had the prawns. Unfortunately, the prawns seemed undercooked and the accompanying bread was burnt, to the point that she couldn’t finish her dish. At that point, I started to feel quite frustrated, and my partner was embarrassed, especially after putting so much thought into planning this evening.
The menu is limited, which would have been fine if the execution had matched the presentation we’d seen on social media. The marketing is definitely impressive—credit to whoever handles it—but the actual dishes didn’t reflect what we’d seen online. The service was okay, but not particularly attentive or engaging. Eye contact and small gestures can go a long way in making guests feel welcome, and that was missing during our visit.
The main course was very good, and we appreciated that. However, the overall experience left us so disappointed that we didn’t feel like ordering dessert,we just wanted to leave. It was a long wait for what was ultimately a letdown, especially on a special occasion. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be returning."

Where to Eat Great Steak in Dublin
The burnt end rending spring rolls come to mind, as does the grilled pork chop with sticky glaze but for steak lovers, it will always be the cote de boeuf with smoked béarnaise. Purveyors of quite possibly the best value steak in Dublin, just this week it was announced that the Friday lunch menu at Mister S would include a limited amount of West Cork Waygu steak frites for a purse friendly €19, and the cote de boeuf (cooked over fire, as are all most things at Mister S), serves two people and costs just €58 – I have seen similar priced at €90. Sides are extra, but €30 buys a lot of sides.
Ultimate Food Guide to: Dublin’s Best Seafood
Typically associated with prime cuts of meat, over the last couple of months the team at Mister S have made a concerted effort to integrate fish onto their menu and integrate it they did. Using the tools at their disposal namely the wood fire and smoker, the team have carved out a healthy niche in the Dublin food scene, catering to both carnivores and pescatarians. Food for Thought founder Dan Hannigan and District Director Craig Connolly were both fans of Mister S’ treatment of fire and fish.

The smell of smoke and open-fire cooking permeates the dining space at Mister S, inducing immediate happiness. Personally, I’m still waiting for a fashion designer to cop on to the potential of Eau de Barbecue but in the meantime Mister S will do. In addition to the main menu, it has become popular for Friday lunch, when a dry-aged picanha with smoked Béarnaise or grilled sea bass with tartare sauce, plus side dish, is exceptionally well-priced at €21.

The Ultimate Guide to Dublin Restaurants
Dublin has its fair share of steakhouses, but Mister S on Camden Street came recommended by countless locals. It’s a relatively low-key spot, and the rustic decor and industrial finishes created a relaxed but oh-so-cool vibe. I couldn’t wait to try one of their steaks, all of which are cooked over a roaring fire, and I went for the sirloin on the bone.

This is a place where you can smell the restaurant before you see it. This is due, in part, to the massive charcoal fire working overtime in the open kitchen. The interiors are dark and woody to match those aromas.
