Fernando's Kaffee

Fernando’s Kaffee is focussed on chocolate and coffee, so visitors with a passion for either should definitely pay a visit. If you’re only peckish, you can enjoy a cup of freshly roasted coffee and a heavenly homemade chocolate cookie, but if you’ve got a hearty appetite, fear not. There are plenty of filling breakfasts here, from crepes filled with scrambled eggs, beans, tomato, onion and pepper, to the Típico – two eggs, beans, fried plantain and homemade tortilla.

The next day, I didn’t yet have a place to stay that night, so I wandered the mean streets of Antigua until I stumbled into Fernando’s Kaffee, a chocolate & coffee shop where I felt very sheltered from the vigilance I find throughout Guatemala. Eventually, I found Earth Lodge online, and that had a space open so I snatched it up. I did a lot there, too much to talk about here, but some highlights are: finding a Guatemalan family to adopt me, watching the impressively bright stars at night, and spending time reading and relaxing by myself.

Fernando’s Kaffee is a colourful and vibrant café with a beautiful courtyard area, serving both local and international delights. This is a great place to work from as the Wi-Fi is good; there’s power plugs and a great vibe. Another option for working space is in your hostel or private accommodation, however it is recommended to ask for internet speed before booking, as internet can be a little unreliable in Guatemala in terms of speed.

Fernando’s Kaffee is not exactly your typical restaurant, per se, as it’s more a café and chocolate factory offering workshops. Nonetheless, you can’t miss out on a simple, affordable brunch at Fernando’s in Antigua. While their all-day breakfast and lunch menu offers the typical Guatemalan fare—eggs, beans, fried plantain—they also offer pastries and snacks, such as baked empanadas, side salads, and cinnamon-sugar churros.

This is one of those cafes you truly feel like stepping into – the freshly prepared chocolate smell you’ll notice by the road is just so inviting!. Fernando’s Kaffee is a rather stereotypical Antigua cafe: colorful, with a nice verdant courtyard coupled with a small fountain and a good menu mixing Guatemalan and international dishes. But the prices are certainly fairer than in most businesses with a foreign crowd.

Coffee lovers shouldn’t miss this roastery and chocolate shop, offering a variety of espresso drinks made from beans grown in Antigua and the surrounding Guatemalan highlands. They also have a full menu and a variety of non-coffee drinks to choose from. It’s the perfect spot to grab some gifts and souvenirs for home; we brought back a few of their artisanal chocolate bars and – of course – a bag of coffee.

As you walk into the store, you’ll never imagine that behind it, there’s a gorgeous patio with plants, fountains, and even the occasional cat keeping you company as you work. This is totally my kind of place, colorful and vibrant, with lots of green, fresh air, and sunshine. Part of the patio is in the sun, so you’ll need to look for a table in the shade to work, but you have many options.

Located conveniently near my Spanish school, Fernando’s became my go-to for an iced latte over homework. It feels more homey and less hipster than some of the speciality coffee shops in Antigua but that might be exactly what you want. Another convincing reason to visit Fernando’s is their chocolate factory selling all kinds of indulgent cacao products.

Fernando’s Kaffee is one of the most popular coffee shops in Antigua, Guatemala. And for good reason – there’s a beautiful courtyard with excellent coffee and food and CHOCOLATE!. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the shop’s known for its ridiculously high-quality coffee, sourced directly from Fernando Moscoso’s family’s coffee farm.

Although Fernando’s Kaffee is a wee walk from the centre of Antigua, this coffee roaster and chocolate maker is worth it. The “typical breakfast” is delicious and a steal at 20Q ($2.50USD). The cappuccino is also absolutely delicious and very well-priced at less than $2USD.

We stopped for coffee and breakfast at Fernando’s Kaffee, which as a great little courtyard out back. I had the pancakes (quite dense, not sure if that’s just a local thing), and tried a few coffee drinks. My cappuccino was good but the food was nothing to write home about.

Here you can pick up some of the best chocolate in Antigua Guatemala or cozy up with a cup of Guatemalan coffee. I stopped here near the end of my trip to pick up a few chocolate bars to gift to friends and family. The chocolate here is seriously incredible.

This became one of our go-to working cafes and breakfast spots in Antigua. Fernando’s Kaffee is a diner, chocolate factory, and café, and coffee roastery all in one. And everything we tried at this restaurant was absolutely delicious.

I didn’t often go out for breakfast since it was included at my hotels, but Fernando’s is the place to go. Their juices are phenomenal and the breakfast plates are hearty enough to fill you up until dinner.

Last but certainly not least on our list of the best breakfast joints in Antigua is Fernando’s Kaffee. As the name suggests, Fernando’s has outstanding coffee. But it’s also a chocolate factory.

This cozy coffee shop is located close to La Merced Park and is known for its aromatic coffee. Furthermore, it is possible to get a small breakfast to kick off your morning the right way.

Fernando's Kaffee is a coffee and chocolate shop, roastery and cafe with a lovely courtyard patio. We opted for fresh, delicious and healthy juice this afternoon instead of coffee.

This cute cafe is situated on a corner near the Iglesia la Merced. The patio has a nice ambiance and usually there are some women over here at work, making traditional cloths.
