What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna is celebrated for its breathtaking seaside location, especially for sunset dining, and its exceptionally fresh, well-prepared seafood. While the stunning ambiance and attentive service, particularly from owner Joy, are consistently praised, some find the prices slightly high given the location. The journey down to the bay via stairs is noted as an adventure, but a taxi is recommended for the return.
"What we missed in a sunset (due to overcast) was made up by exceptional service and delicious seafood dishes. We started with the seafood linguine to share and went with the olive oil sauce as per the recommendation. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the mussels and shrimp and clams were fresh, and the sauce was incredibly tasty. The tomatoes in the pasta add a touch of red to the sauce without the tomato flavour overpowering the dish. We wanted fresh fish but not too much so we went with a smaller sea bass to share. We ordered fried eggplant as a side and we were not disappointed. The service was top notch, we had excellent recommendations and were regularly checked in on. The complimentary vanilla ice cream was a nice way to end the meal."

"We had dinner and watched the sunset at Dimitris Ammoudi Tavern, and it was hands-down one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Greece. The walk down was easy, and the return in the dark wasn’t bad at all. We scored a table right on the water—small waves practically kissed our feet.
We started with tomato fritters, a local specialty, and they were absolutely delicious. Then came the highlight: a whole snapper we picked out ourselves, grilled to perfection. With just lemon, olive oil, and a dash of pepper, it tasted like it jumped straight from the bay onto our plate. The hand-cut fries were crisp and golden, the wine was flowing, and we were in full-on foodie heaven.
Pro tip: reserve your spot via email—Joy, the owner, is a total sweetheart and will take great care of you."

"This was our first and last meal in Santorini, getting down there is a bit of work, it’s well worth it. The seafood tasted like it was caught a few hours ago, the octopus was the highlight the seafood rice is amazing too. We spent around 100 for a meal for two."

The 3 restaurants on the wharf at Amoudi are Katina's, Dimitris and Sunset. I prefer daytime meals down there so I can watch the activities on the wharf and any ships passing by. The best swimming on the island is actually at the end of the seawall that begins on that wharf, about 1/4 mile walk to the end.
Where To Eat in Ammoudi Bay, Santorini
There are a variety of restaurants set into the famous red cliffs of the island’s famed caldera, including Barbounaki, Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna, Ammoudi Fish Tavern and the one we went to; Sunset Ammoudi Taverna, also known as Sunset Ammoudi by Paraskevas. Or if you fancy something different, you could always book a boat tour for dinner. But personally, I’d recommend getting glammed up and heading into Ammoudi Bay for the full experience.

The Best (and Worst) Thing About Restaurants in Santorini is the Greek Food
With seats so close to the water you could fall in if you lean wrong, Dmitri’s Taverna location on Ammoudi Bay is stunning. Getting there is a donkey gauntlet, you either ride the testy beasts down rock-hewn uneven stairs or dodge them AND their manure down all 218+ landings. We were almost trampled at one point, and it isn’t as fun as it sounds.
