What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Venetian Well is widely celebrated for its romantic ambiance and exceptional tasting menu, offering a memorable fine dining experience. Diners praise the attentive service, creative dishes, and beautiful setting. However, some reviews mention slow service or dissatisfaction with set menus if dietary preferences aren't accommodated, and occasional issues with card payments.
"Easily the best restaurant in Corfu. The tasting menu is a must, every course was beautifully balanced and flowed perfectly, making it feel like a real dining experience rather than just a meal.
For the wine, do as the Romans do and go Greek. The sommelier recommended a crisp white from Santorini that paired amazingly with the menu and really elevated the food.
I have a shellfish allergy and one of the dishes included blue crab, but the staff didn’t miss a beat. Our fantastic waiter immediately offered me a swap from the à la carte menu, and it felt seamless and thoughtful.
The pacing was spot on too. Our table was reserved for two hours but we happily stayed for about two and a half (with a digestive to finish) and never once felt rushed or left waiting.
If you’re coming here, order the tasting menu. The few negative reviews seem to be from people ordering à la carte, but honestly, you don’t visit a place like this to order three starters: you come for the full journey. And it’s 100% worth it."

"We’ve been coming to The Venetian Well every year — it’s always been one of our favorite spots in Corfu for the atmosphere, the beautiful square, and what used to be an elegant, gourmet dining experience. Sadly, this time was very different.
We made our reservation a week in advance and were asked to prepay €80, which we found unusual, but we trusted the experience would be worth it. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. The staff were very kind, but the service was extremely slow. There was a fixed Easter menu, and no one asked about our dietary preferences. Out of five courses, two included mageiritsa (Greek Easter soup made from lamb intestines) — something neither of us can eat or enjoy. In the end, it was our dog who helped finish the plate.
We paid €85 per person for a set menu where we genuinely disliked almost half the dishes. To top it off, the card machine wasn’t working, and we had to pay in cash, which caused further delay.
It breaks my heart to say this, but something has changed here. What used to be a refined, special dining spot now feels like a forced set-menu place with none of the finesse we loved. After many visits over the years, this was, unfortunately, our last."

"The location is absolutely beautiful and romantic – a perfect setting for a special evening. The reservation system can feel a bit demanding, with strict time slots and a required deposit, but given the size of the restaurant and the peak tourist season, it is understandable.
The restaurant itself is charming and very pleasant. We opted for the tasting menu, which was excellent – the food was creative, well-prepared, and definitely worth trying. There is a lot of staff, but somehow the energy and atmosphere they aim for with a fine dining concept doesn’t fully come through. It feels like something small is missing to really elevate the experience to the next level.
Overall, the food is great and the setting is wonderful. Despite the small drawbacks, Venetian Well is definitely worth visiting if you are in Corfu."
