"The lady misunderstood our order and gave us Pretzels instead of Pepsi, and she insisted we were in the wrong. Unfortunately we weren’t the only ones who’s order she made wrong, as the people in front of us also had troubles with their order.

A decent-sized strudel is my first impression when I catch a glimpse of one through the window of this small Prenzlauer Berg café, patronised by neighbourhood families of south Germans yearning to brunch on a quality authentic plate of Weißwurst or Leberkäse. Meierei closes at 4pm, which turns the pastry into breakfast or a coffee snack. Strudels are served cold because according to the Austrian owner, Herbert Roth, that is how they do it in Austria (additional custard or whipped cream available on request).

Die Gasthausbrauerei direkt am Jungfernsee ist Potsdams beliebtester Biergarten. In den kupfernen Braukesselnwerden das „Meierei hell“, ein naturtrübes helles Bier, und ein alle vier Wochen wechselndes Spezialbier gebraut. Empfehlenswerte Gerichte dazu sind Bratwurstschnecke in Biersauce mit Stampfkartoffeln und Sauerkraut.

When visiting Potsdam in summer and when you and your friends like good and fresh beer, you should definitely visit the Meierei. It is located on the northern end of the New Garden, left of Cecilienhof. They brew their own beer, one can sit at the water while drinking it and it’s so refreshing.

Meierei: Located on the lake next to Cecilienhof Palace is this incredible brewery and restaurant. We only stopped here for their delicious beer (try it, it’s some of the best we had in the Berlin area) but we saw plenty of delicious, hearty plates of food being served around the restaurant.
