Dallmayr is the city's most elegant and famous gourmet food store, with delights that range from exotic fruits and English jams to a multitude of fish and meats, all served by efficient Munich matrons in smart blue-and-white-linen uniforms. The store's famous specialty is coffee, with more than 50 varieties to blend as you wish. It even has its own chocolate factory.

A tradition that has existed in Munich for over three centuries, Dallmayr earned its reputation selling coffee composed of a very high quality blend of beans. The Dallmayr legacy began as a small family-owned grocery store and is now an international name, with the main store in downtown Munich receiving about 2.5 million visitors annually. The store is most famous for its “Prodomo” coffee blend, which is so delicious due mainly to the fine raw beans that make it up.

The origins of the delicatessen Alois Dallmayr date back to the early 18th century. The original store, in Munich's Altstadt, is one of the largest of its kind in the world, and a stroll through its ground-floor delicatessen department is considered one of the highlights of a stay in Munich. Since 2006, Dallmayr has had a fine dining restaurant on the first floor, the Alois – Dallmayr Fine Dining since 2018, which currently boasts two Michelin stars.

It was founded in 1700 in Munich (although the name “Dallmayr” wasn’t adopted until 1870). You’ll find Dallmayr coffee in cafes and grocery stores throughout the country, but while you’re in Munich I highly recommend visiting Dallmayr’s Delicatessen. It’s a gourmet grocery store with all kinds of produce and goods for sale, including, of course, a range of Dallmayr’s beloved coffee.

The luxurious Dallmayr delicatessen is to Munich, what Harrods Food Hall is to London. It is a beautiful, historic (dating from 1700!) and popular destination for local and visiting foodies alike to purchase some of the best food in Munich. The company is primarily known for coffee and tea, but you’ll find everything from exclusive wines to decadent pastries within the food hall.

Don’t miss the legendary gastro-boutique, Dallmayr, which is the most sophisticated food shop in the city. Establishd in 1700, it was originally a coffee wholesaler; you can still sip a hearty brew from the delicate porcelain cups from Nymphenburg, engaging in one of the local rituals of the well-heeled Bavarian bourgeoisie.

In 1933 the Dallmyar coffee brand was born to Munich’s already established and famous delicatessen. Rich in history and reputation, one can experience an incredible cup of coffee, all while indulging on a delectable sweet treat. Don’t forget to purchase your favorite bean along with something extra yummy on your way out!

Next to Dallmayr in the old town, Käfer Bistro is probably the best-known delicatessen shop in the city. The Bavarian Pope Joseph Ratzinger and Bill Clinton have also dined here – and even the former Wirecard CEO came regularly for lunch. Upscale prices for upscale delicacies.

It really is'nt cheap, but it is Munich's best restaurant (Except from maybe Dallmayr, but they are a little buit arrogant) and one of the best in whole Germany - Two Michelin stars!. You can expect to spend about € 200-250 per person for the menu but it's totally worth it.

For lunch, the second-floor café at Dallmayr (Dienerstrasse 14–15) should not be missed. The first floor of this famous 300-year-old gourmet emporium offers rye bread, fresh pasta, vinegars, hanging cured ham legs, caviar, wine and more.

While they don’t serve classic British afternoon tea, you can pretty much put together your own thanks to the large selection of high-quality teas and first-class sweet petit fours. A sweet afternoon break in a real Munich institution!
