What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Augustiner Bräustuben offers an unparalleled atmosphere of authentic Bavarian charm, making it a must-visit for its ambiance and classic brews. While the beer is consistently praised, the food receives mixed reviews, with some dishes being hailed as exceptional and others noted as merely average.
"Everything I hoped for in a traditional Bavarian beer hall, warm, buzzing, and full of character. The vaulted ceilings strung with hops set the scene, and the food carried it through. I went for the Munich Sausage Salad after my waiter politely (and hilariously) tried to talk me out of it, saying it’s “something only Germans eat.” 😂 I stuck with my choice, and it turned out to be one of the best dishes I had on my entire trip through Bavaria, simple, tangy, and absolutely addictive. The other plates, from hearty sausages and spätzle to apple strudel with ice cream, only reinforced that this place takes its classics seriously. Between the friendly service, the atmosphere, and the food, it’s a spot I’d come back to without hesitation."

"Not the best food, but the ambience is absolutely worth it. This historic, beautifully maintained restaurant is full of charm—every detail, from the vintage photos to the windows, adds to the experience. The beer, of course, is delicious. Service is fine, by typical German standards. Prices are reasonable, and overall, no regrets about coming here. It’s a great spot for the atmosphere alone"

"food itself was mediocre. in particular the "freshly baked" pretzel was cold and obviously at least several hours old.
beer was good and plentiful! service was fine too, did not encounter the racism mentioned in some reviews."
