How to spend the perfect day in Hamburg 🍳 Start off with breakfast at Cafe Paris. Despite the name, they have a good German breakfast you won’t want to miss. 🏛️ Admire the City Hall & stroll along Alster Lake 🛍️ Window shop at Jungfernstieg. Mellinpassage is also a pretty passage way. 🌳 Take a walk around Planten un Blomen park — it’s full of botanical gardens, fountains, and cute spots to chill. ...

Reviews Summary

Café Paris is celebrated for its stunning, authentic Parisian ambiance and high-quality traditional French cuisine, making it a beloved spot for both locals and tourists. While many rave about the delicious food, romantic atmosphere, and excellent coffee, some visitors note that tables can be close together during busy periods and prices can be on the higher side.

"My partner and I dined at this restaurant before the Christmas season. The location is amazing: it has decoration inspired by the Art Nouveau style, which adds that touch to the dining experience.
The food is extremely tasty and the overall experience is satisfying: from the appetisers (carpaccio and escargot) to the main courses and the desserts, all paired with a nice French red wine.
I totally recommend this restaurant and I’d love to come back!"

Filippo Targhini

"Great atmosphere with heritage and an amazing roof.

I had the steak+ fries + salad which was nice.

I recommend doing a reservation as I got lucky to get a table without it.

Bathroom was not accessible.

Restaurant located at the centre of Hamburg."

RC

"Very nice place. Inside the restaurant is very nicely decorated. We were there for the breakfast and you can find very nice french bakery and breakfast in the menu. We had croissant sandwiches and croque monsieur. All were very delicious. The menu was very nice for the evening and dinner too. It’s a very nice stop in the city"

Time Out Hamburg

Café Paris | Restaurants

Right by the impressive Rathaus, Café Paris is Hamburg’s answer to the classic French brasserie and an unfailingly popular spot for lunch, dinner or an aperitif. It’s been delivering a fine line in French cuisine since 1882 and has stuck to what it does best; hearty servings of steak tartare, bouillabaisse, Merguez sausage and chips, with just one sauerkraut concession to its German environs. True to many a French eatery, it’s a resoundingly meat-led menu; vegetarian diners are limited to two main course options, though if you eat cheese, the platter makes for a hearty meal in itself.

Restaurants in Hamburg

A slice of Paris in the heart of Hamburg, this turn-of-the-19th-century café's unfailing popularity derives from its superb traditional French fare, which naturally includes steak frites and beef tartare, served by crisply polite staff beneath a tiled Art Nouveau ceiling. The café's bar is an ideal spot to take in the atmosphere and sample something off the superb wine list until a table becomes free.

9 Best Restaurants In Hamburg For Delicious Dining

This fine French brasserie has been serving up top-notch bouillabaisse and steak tartare since 1882, with a sauerkraut dish to satisfy any hankerings for a bit of German grub. Unsurprisingly, given its Parisian roots, you won’t find many veggie options here, but carnivores will be delighted. That’s not to say a vegetarian couldn’t enjoy a hearty meal here, especially as the cheese is so moreish.

The Best Places to Eat & Drink in Hamburg Right Now

Right next to the massive Rathaus is Café Paris, Hamburg’s answer to French brasseries and the epitome of the odi et amo relationship between Germany and France. Since 1882 – the Franco-Prussian war had been over for about ten years – Café Paris has been serving fine French cuisine with meat at its centre (for vegetarians, there is a wide choice of cheeses): generous portions of steak tartare, Merguez sausage and pomme frites, with sauerkraut, the one ingredient and only concession to Germany on the menu. The beef entrecôte is the dish to get, tender and accompanied by ajoli, pomme frites and a small knob of butter – present on all tables.
