What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Diners rave about the absolutely breathtaking panoramic views from the terrace and the delicious, giant cream puffs, calling them a must-try dessert. While the traditional Bavarian food is generally well-received, some find the prices a bit steep and note that only cash is accepted. The atmosphere can be lively, especially with children enjoying the playground, making it a great family destination.
"Such a beautiful view from the terrace! We enjoyed some drinks and potato soup. The chocolate cake was delicious as well. Servers were nice but make sure to have cash-they don’t accept credit cards."

"All about the cream puffs and location.
Very traditional food and menu.
My daughter ate the pumpkin ravioli and loved it"
Eddie Johnson
"The place is beautiful, we were with a child and we liked the playground because it was fun for the child too. The goulash was delicious and I would recommend it. Windbeutel is too sweet for my taste because otherwise I don't like cream or ice cream, for ice cream lovers I think it will be delicious."

Situated at the bend of the Kramerplateauweg hiking path before it descends into Garmisch, this recently renovated guesthouse may not sport the patina of a classically rustic Wirtshaus, but the menu is classically Bavarian. Daily specials are hearty yet affordable. Try the Jägerstrudel if it’s on: a Kräuterpfannkuchen (herb crepe) filled with beef and veal from the Allgäu, and topped with a mushroom sauce.
Eat and Drink
Beautifully situated inn on the mountain with a great panoramic terrace. In addition to Bavarian fare, you can also enjoy very good cream puffs there.
